Wild GameDay

Powe Goal: 1-0

Johnson Goal: 2-1

Christensen Goal: 3-3

Hola, State of Hockey legion! Welcome to another stirring installment of Wild.com’s In-Game Commentary presented by Sun Country Airlines.

On this day in 1970, Sly and the Family Stone hit number one on the charts with "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)." I’d like to thank Sun Country (Fer Spawn Soar-In Dis Calm In Terry). It also happens to be the first night of the 2012 Fan Celebration, the Wild’s thank you to all of its supporters. So, I’d personally like to thank every single one of our commentary followers. You guys and gals are the tops, and there are no better fans in the cosmos than Wild fans.

I’d also like to offer a prologue thanks the Los Angeles Kings for giving a valiant effort against the Wild tonight, because Minnesota is going to offer the Kings a beating at Xcel Energy Center.

Yes, I’m confident about the game, but I have good reason to be. Niklas Backstrom is starting for the second-straight game, and he is coming off a 23-save performance.

Kurtis Foster is back in the lineup, and takes the place of Marco Scandella on the blue line.

Scandella is considered day-to-day with an upper body injury. Jared Spurgeon is out indefinitely with a concussion. Matt Kassian (sports hernia) has been shut down for the season. Matt Cullen is out for the season after surgery on a broken finger. Mike Lundin had surgery on a sports hernia and is out for the season. Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Guillaume Latendresse are on Injured Reserve with concussions.

If you come to the commentary to find out what colors the teams will be sporting, Minnesota wears its home reds, while the Kings are outfitted in the road whites with black trim and LA logo.

Here we go!

First, second and third periods were erased, but we'll join the commentary in the overtime.

Overtime

4:13 - The Kings are on the PP to start the OT. Doughty gets the puck at the left face off dot and wires a shot through traffic. However, Backstrom makes the save and snuffs out any thoughts of a rebound.

3:37 - That might be the save of the year folks. Mike Richards gets a backdoor pass and the net is just begging to be tickled. He fires a one-timer but Backstrom nearly does the splits to make a left pad save. Access denied!

1:18 - Well, it looks like my entire commentary was erased, so I hope you were following along. Setoguchi gets hauled down on a breakaway and gets a penalty shot. He comes down and rings one off the post. Goal erased, commentary erased, too.

:20 - Brodziak misses by an inch. Gilbert launches a point shot and the rebound is free. Brodziak fights off a check and the puck drifts just wide of the net.

0:00 - Wild had much better chances in the OT and we're heading to a shootout.

Shootout

Christensen is up first and snipes. Forehand, backhand, forehand goal. Easy money.

Williams nearly looses the pucks and makes a weak move that Backstrom easily stops.

Koivu with a move we've seen before. Forehand, backhand top cheese. Wooot!

Richard tries to go low-stick side, but Backstrom kicks it away. Wild win!
