Wild Prospects Report - April 4


Houston Aeros (32-23-15, 79 pts., T-5th place in the Western Conference)  - The Houston Aeros fell in extra time in three consecutive games last week, losing 3-2 in overtime at Milwaukee (3/28), 4-3 in a shootout vs. Lake Eerie (3/29), and 3-2 in overtime vs. Hamilton (3/31). G Matt Hackett started in all three games, his first since last starting for the Aeros on Feb. 25, saving 78 of 87 shots. RW Nick Palmieri registered his first points with the Aeros, collecting three points in three games (2-1=3). The Aeros resume play Friday vs. Chicago (4/6) and will play five of their six remaining games on home ice.

Canadian Hockey Leagues

LW Brett Bulmer - Kelowna (WHL): The 2010 second-round pick was assigned to Houston of the AHL on April 1, after Kelowna was eliminated from playoffs. Led Kelowna with five points (1-4=5) in three playoff games. Kelowna lost to Portland in the first round. Finished regular season ranked second on team in total points despite missing 19 games.

D Josh Caron - Everett (WHL): The 2010 free agent signing was assigned to Houston of the AHL on April 2, after Everett was eliminated from playoffs. He scored once in four playoff games with Everett, losing out to Tri City in first round.

C Charlie Coyle - Saint John (QMJHL): San Jose's first-round pick in 2010 (28th overall) is tied for the league playoff lead with 13 points (9-4=13) and leads in goals after four games. Named CHL Player of the Week after scoring 10 pts (6-4=10) and a +9 rating in first two playoff games. Saint John will play Baie-Comeau in the second round.

C Tyler Graovac - Ottawa (OHL): The seventh-round selection (191st overall) in the 2011 Draft has two points (1-1=2) in six playoff games. Ottawa will face Barrie in the second round of playoffs after defeating Belleville in the first round.

D Colton Jobke Regina (WHL): The 2010 free agent was assigned to Houston of the AHL on April 4, after Regina was eliminated from playoffs. Collected 10 penalty minutes in five playoff games. Regina lost to Moose Jaw the first round of playoffs. Finished regular season ranked second on team in penalty minutes and fourth with eight power play goals.

C Zack Phillips Saint Johns (QMJHL): The 2011 first-round selection (28th overall) is tied for third in the league with 12 points (2-10=12) in four playoff games. Saint John will play Baie-Comeau in the second round. Finished regular season 3rd in QMJHL in plus-minus rating, 10th in assists and 14th scoring.

College/USHL


C Anthony Hamburg - Omaha (USHL): The seventh-round pick (193rd overall) of the 2009 Draft has four points (2-2=4) in his last four games. Ranks second on the team in penalty minutes. Has helped Omaha clinch a spot in the USHL playoffs.

LW Erik Haula - Minnesota (WCHA): The seventh-round pick (182 overall) of the 2009 Draft is on a six-game point streak (6-5=11) to help the Gophers advance to the NCAA Frozen Four. The Gophers will face Boston College on April 5. He leads team and ranks tied for ninth in the nation in scoring (20+28=48).

D Sean Lorenz - Notre Dame (CCHA): The fourth-round pick (115th overall) in 2009 has signed with Houston and has joined the team. Finished his final season at Notre Dame with three goals and 10 assists in 37 games. The team captain led the squad with 48 blocked shots. Lorenz finished his college career with 155 games played, nine goals and 25 assists.

LW Mario Lucia - Penticton (BCHL): The second-round selection (60th overall) in 2011 was named BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending April 1. Tied for league lead with 15 points (6-9=15) in 11 playoff games. The Vees will face Powell River in the finals. Finished regular season ranked third in the league in points and tied for first in goals. Named BCHL Second All-Star Team and All-Rookie Team.

D Nick Seeler - Des Moines (USHL): The fifth-round pick (131st overall) in 2011 Leads team defensemen in scoring. Has two goals and eight assists in 22 games with Des Moines. He began the season with Muskegon where he played 32 games and posted 15 points.

F Jason Zucker - Denver (WCHA): The second-round pick (59th overall) in the 2010 Draft has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Wild and has two assists in four games with Minnesota. Finished season second on Denver and tied for 15th in nation in points, and tied for 13th in nation in goals.

International

D Jonas Brodin - Farjestads BK Karlstad (Sweden):
The first-round selection (10th overall) in the 2011 Draft tallied two goals in 11 playoff games, his first goals of the season. Team lost to Brynas in the second round. Notched eight assists in 49 regular-season games.

F Mikael Granlund - HIFK Helsinki (Finland): The first-round pick (ninth overall) in 2011 posted two assists in four playoff games. Team lost to Jokerit in the second round. Finished regular season sixth in the league in points, 11th in goals, seventh in assists and T-11th in plus-minus rating. He totaled 51 points (20-31=51) in 45 games.

D Bjorn Krupp - Cologne (Germany): The 2009 free agent signing lost to Berlin in the second round of playoffs. Finished regular season ranked 3rd on team in PIM. He had eight assists in 48 regular-season games.

LW Johan Larsson - Brynas (Sweden): The second-round selection (56th overall) in the 2010 Draft has four points (1-3=4) in 10 playoff games. His team has advanced to finals after beating Farjestads. Finished regular season ranked 3rd on Brynas in scoring and assists.  Finshed the regular season ranked third on the team in scoring and assists.

Goaltenders

Dennis Endras - HIFK (Finland):
The 2010 free agent signing lost to Jokerit in the second round of playoffs, posting a .926 save percentage and 2.38 goals against average in four games. Finished regular season ranked T-5th in league in SV% and 6th in GAA.

Johan Gustafsson - Lulea HF (Sweden):
The sixth-round pick (159th overall) in the 2010 Draft helped lead his team to first place during the regular season, but was ousted in the first round of the playoffs. He finished the regular season ranked fifth in save percentage and second in goals against average.

Stephen Michalek - Harvard (ECAC):
The sixth-round pick (161st overall) in 2011 was named to the second-team All-Ivy League and ECAC All-Rookie Team in his first year at Harvard. Finished with a 7-7-8 record, a 3.13 goals against average and a .894 save percentage.
