Wild prospect Matt Hackett has been added to Team Canada's roster for the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships.

It will be the first time the London, Ont., native represents Hockey Canada in international play.

Hackett was named NHL's Second Star on Dec. 12 as he stopped 76 of 78 shots in first his first two NHL games, both victories. According to Elias Sports Bureau, he set an NHL record for the longest shutout streak to start a career at 102 minutes and 48 seconds.

With the Aeros, Hackett earned 20 wins while posting a 2.38 goals against average and .917 save percentage. He also played in the AHL All-Star Game for the Western Conference.

Canada’s National Men’s Team is holding a pre-competition camp in Zurich from April 27-May 1, playing in two pre-competition games – April 29 vs. Switzerland in Fribourg, Switzerland, and May 1 vs. Switzerland in Kloten, Switzerland. With Saturday’s announcement, Canada’s roster now includes three goaltenders, seven defensemen and 13 forwards.

The 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship is from May 4-20, in Helsinki, Finland and Stockholm, Sweden, with Canada based out of Helsinki for the entire event. Canada opens up against Slovakia on May 4.  All of Canada’s games will be aired on TSN/RDS. Check your local listings for game times in your area.
