Q & A With Zach Parise

Minnesota Wild fans (and management for that matter) spent so much time wringing their hands over the prospect of signing free agent Zach Parise, we have had a hard time being patient for hockey season to get here.

Parise is looking forward to that time as well, although he admits he's enjoying some downtime after a crazy summer. Here's what else he had to say about his summer after a recent catchup with Wild.com.

How’s your summer gone since July, have things calmed down for you a little bit?

Yeah, a little bit? I was pretty excited once July passed with the wedding and with the free agency. Since August came around, it’s been nicer getting back to some normalcy.

Yeah, you recently got married (to Alisha). How did it go, and how is married life treating you?

It’s been great. The wedding was good, we had a lot of old teammates from New Jersey that came in which is always nice. It was great; nothing went wrong so we were pretty lucky.

What was your wedding song?

“Stay With You” by John Legend.

One thing everyone hates is moving and packing, how nice is it now that you can just stay in your home here in Minnesota?

That’s really nice. That’s the one part of the summer we always would dread, the late August early September when we’d be packing up our stuff. We actually just packed up our house in New Jersey and moved stuff back and have it up for sale. We’re pretty happy that’s the last time we have to do that.

You grew up in Minnesota, but last winter was pretty mild. That probably won’t happen again, are you ready for a Minnesota winter?

Yeah we are. I know it’s going to be a little different than what we’re used to, but we both like it. We like more of the change of season and things like that, but it will probably take a year to get used to that cold again.

What do you remember most about Minnesota winters? What are your fondest memories?

Probably skating outdoors and just being outside in the snow. Growing up, we had a pond not far from our house, so my dad would go down and scrape it off and hose it down and we’d be out skating all the time.
