Friday Forecast: Wild Affiliates Flying High

Aeros Flying into Movember
The Houston Aeros, the Minnesota Wild’s American Hockey League affiliate, roll into Movember on a hot streak, going 4-0-1-0 during its last five games. The club is ranked second in the South Division with a 4-2-1-0 (9 points) record.

The Aeros got a big boost in October from highly touted Wild prospect Mikael Granlund, who was awarded the CCM/AHL Rookie of the Month. The center tallied 10 points (3-7=10), along with a plus-5 rating, in seven games for last month. The Wild's first-round pick leads all AHL rookies in assists. Granlund spoke with Kevin Falness, Wild radio host, about the award.
Granlund and the Aeros travel to Oklahoma City for Friday and Saturday night contests against the Barons. OKC boasts the AHL player of the Month, defenseman Justin Schultz. It will be the second and third meetings between Houston and Oklahoma City, with the Aeros drawing first blood, 6-4, last Friday. Aeros.com previews tonight’s matchup, here.
The Aeros then return home on Sunday to take on the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Solar Bears Maul Inaugural Month
The Wild’s ECHL affiliate, the Orlando Solar Bears, had an outstanding opening month in its inaugural season, going 4-1-2.
Left wing Nick Petersen earned ECHL Player of the Month in October. Petersen led the league in October with 14 points, and was tied for the league lead with six goals. Read the Solar Bears' report, here.
Last night, the Bears were defeated on the road by the Gwinnett Gladiators, 4-1. The Bears continue its roadie, tonight playing against the Greenville Road Warriors (4-3-0) and at the South Carolina Stingrays (3-4-0) on Sunday.
