Friday Forecast: Affiliates Look To Rebound

Aeros Look To Rebound

The Houston Aeros (5-4-1-1, 12 points) were upended at home by the Toronto Marlies last night, 6-4. The Aeros held 4-2 lead heading into the third period, but the Marlies rallied with four unanswered goals for the road win.

After falling behind 1-0, Justin Fontaine evened the game in the first period with his third goal on the season. Joel Broda and Chay Genoway each picked up an assist on the play.

Houston jumped out to a lead in the second period, with goals from Chad Rau (3), Jason Zucker (3) and Charlie Coyle scored his team leading seventh goal on the year. Aeros goalie Matt Hackett (2-4-1) suffered the loss making 29 saves on 34 shots, with Toronto adding a late empty-net goal. For the full-game recap, click here.

Tonight, the Aeros host the Lake Erie Monsters at 7 p.m. The team is off Saturday and resumes its home stand against the Texas Stars on Sunday.

Solar Bears Shoot To Bounce Back

Last night, the Orlando Solar Bears dropped a 4-3 contest to the Gwinnett Gladiators.

After falling behind 2-0, Orlando cut the lead on a shorthanded goal by Ryan Ginand. Gwinnett scored a power play goal late in the first to extend its lead to two.

Early in the second, Olivier Fortier brought the Bears back within one, but the Gladiators again responded to have a 4-2 lead going into the third period.

Fortier scored his second on the game to pull Orlando within one, but the team couldn’t complete the comeback despite outshooting Gwinnett, 36-33. For the complete recap, click here.

The Solar Bears are off today, but continue its home stand tomorrow night against the Elmira Jackals. Orlando will get the opportunity to avenge last night’s lost as the team hosts Gwinnett Gladiators on Sunday.
