Aeros in the State of Hockey

The Houston Aeros, the Wild’s American Hockey League affiliate, will have a home-and-kind-of-home series against the Rockford IceHogs this weekend. The Aeros will host the IceHogs at Xcel Energy Center at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18. For tickets to the game, click here. First, Houston will play in Rockford for the first time this season, tonight.

The Aeros are currently in second place in the South Division with a 6-5-1-2 record (15 points). Rockford is 5-7-0-1 (11 points), good for fourth place in the Midwest Division.

On Tuesday in a special matinee game, the Aeros flew past the San Antonio Rampage, 7-5. Wild prospect Jason Zucker, scored twice and set up two others, helping Houston top San Antonio on School Field Trip Day.

Center David McIntyre added two goals, while wingers Justin Fontaine and Nick Palmieri each had a pair of assists in the win. Aeros forwards Johan Larsson and Brett Bulmer, as well as defenseman Tyler Cuma, also scored, as the team improved to 4-2-0-0 on the road this season.

Solar Bears Acquire Former Aeros Player

The Orlando Solar Bears acquired RW Chris Lawrence from the San Francisco Bulls in exchange for future considerations. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound forward skated in two games with the Aeros in 2010-11.

Orlando hosts the Kalamazoo Wings for three-straight games beginning Saturday. The Solar Bears and Wings will go head-to-head, in what will likely be a testy affair, on Nov. 18, 19 and 20.

The Solar Bears are in sixth place in the ECHL Eastern Conference with a 6-5-2-1 record.
