Aeros Drive for Five

The Houston Aeros beat the Oklahoma City Barons in a shootout, 2-1, at home last night for the its fourth-straight win. Forward Nick Palmieri scored the club’s lone goal with assists going to Justin Fontaine and Brian Connelly. Forwards Jason Zucker, Zack Phillips and Kris Foucault scored in the shootout to push the Aeros past the Barons. Houston goalie Matt Hackett (7-5-2) made 23 saves in regulation and stoned four of six Barons attempts in the shootout for the win.

With last night’s victory, Houston improves its record against the Barons this year to 3-1-0-0. The two teams clash again tonight as Houston concludes a three-game home stand at Toyota Center.

The Aeros are currently in third place in the South Division with 23 points and trail the divisional rival Barons by a mere two points.

Solar Bears Look to Change Luck

The Orlando Solar Bears are on a four-game skid and look to change its luck on the road against the Las Vegas Wranglers. On the weekend, the teams will play a pair of games, starting tonight and concluding the series on Saturday. The Solar Bears’ record of 8-9-2-1 has the team ranked third in the South Division.

Orlando lost 6-2 on the road Wednesday against the Ontario Reign. Forwards C.J. Severyn and Nick Petersen scored for the Bears. Goaltender Hannu Toivonen made 25 saves in the loss. In the game, Ryan Cruthers earned his 250th ECHL point with an assist on Orlando's first goal.
