Wild Prospects Report - Jan. 2

Houston Aeros Record: 17-10-2-3, 39 points, Second Place in South Division

The Aeros continued to find success over the holiday season, remaining among the top teams in the South Division. Houston earned seven of a possible eight points in four post-Christmas contests, posting a current four-game point streak (3-0-1-0), and totaling points in 13-of-17 contests (11-4-1-1) since the team’s Nov. 18 victory in Saint Paul.

The Aeros started 2013 by repeating its recent success against Oklahoma City with a 4-2 victory against the Barons Tuesday in Houston. Winger Jason Zucker added to his team-leading point total with two goals and an assist, center Mikael Granlund netted two assists and goalie Matt Hackett made 28 saves to earn the win.

Zucker’s 29 points (15-14=29) in 28 games rank second among all AHL rookies and T-12th among all players in the league this season.

The Aeros continue a busy week of play hosting the Texas Stars at 7:05 p.m. Friday, the San Antonio Rampage at 7:05 p.m. Saturday and traveling to Cedar Park to face the Stars at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Wild Prospects Update

Canadian Hockey Leagues

LW Raphael Bussieres - Baie-Comeau (QMJHL): The Wild’s second-round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft netted two goals and a plus-3 rating in a 4-2 victory at Quebec Friday. In 38 games, the forward has 46 points (20-26=46) and is a plus-24.

D Mathew Dumba - Red Deer (WHL): Minnesota’s first-round pick in June’s NHL Entry Draft recorded two goals and two assists in three games with the Rebels last week. The blueliner has nine goals and 12 assists in 37 games.

C Tyler Graovac - Ottawa (OHL): Totaled three points (2-1=3) and a plus-1 rating in a 4-3 victory at Kingston Tuesday. Graovac has 20 goals and 14 assists on the season.

D Colton Jobke - Regina (WHL): Returned from injury with an assist and plus-1 rating in two games with Regina after undergoing surgery to repair severed tendons in his left hand after being injured Nov. 9. In 17 games, he has 14 points (1-13=14).

College/USHL

D John Draeger - Michigan State (CCHA): Skated in the Spartans’ tie vs. Western Michigan and loss vs. Michigan in the Great Lakes Invitational last week. The freshman has four points (1-4=5) in 19 games.

RW Adam Gilmour - Muskegon (USHL): Minnesota’s fourth-round selection in the June’s NHL Entry Draft totaled two goals and a plus-3 rating in three games for the Lumberjacks. Has accumulated 24 points (12-12=24) and a plus-12 rating in 31 games.

LW Erik Haula - University of Minnesota (WCHA): Totaled four points (1-3=4) in two victories and was named to the All-Tournament Team as the Gophers claimed the Mariucci Classic title. Suffered an upper-body injury in Sunday’s 8-1 victory vs. Boston College. Leads the Gophers in points (26) and assists (17). The Gophers are ranked No. 1 in the country.

LW Mario Lucia - Notre Dame (CCHA): Totaled one assist and a plus-1 rating in five games with the U.S. National Junior Team at the IIHF World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia. Team USA has advanced to the semifinals after defeating the Czech Republic, 7-0. Team USA will face Team Canada at 3 a.m. CST on Thursday.

LW Louis Nanne - Penticton (BCHL): Skated in two games with Penticton last week. On the season, the forward has 26 points (13-13=26). Penticton is the No. 2 ranked team in the BCHL with a record of 23-9-0-3.

D Nick Seeler - Nebraska Omaha (WCHA): Skated in the Mavericks’ losses at Quinnipiac over the weekend. The blueliner has seven points (2-5=7) and a plus-7 rating in 18 games. Nebraska-Omaha is ranked No. 15 in the country.

International

RW Christoph Bertschy - SC Bern (Swiss): Tied for the team lead with three goals, adding an assist, in five games with Team Switzerland at the IIHF World Junior Championship in Russia. The Swiss will face the Czech Republic in the fifth-place game Friday after falling in a shootout to Russia, 4-3, in today’s quarterfinal contest.

D Daniel Gunnarsson - Lulea HF (SEL): Netted an assist and plus-2 rating in three games with Lulea. The defenseman has 11 points (5-6=11) and is a plus-7 in 34 games.

Goaltenders

Johan Gustafsson - Lulea HF (SEL): Allowed four total goals in a win and loss last week. Leads all Swedish Elite League goalies in goals-against average (1.71 GAA) and ranks fifth in save percentage (.928 SV%), having stopped 486-of-524 shots.

Stephen Michalek - Cedar Rapids (USHL): Went 1-1-1 with Cedar Rapids last week. Has a 3.27 goals-against average and a .886 save percentage in 10 games with Cedar Rapids.
