Wild Reduces Training Camp Roster; Activates Bouchard
Following last night’s Intra-Squad scrimmage, today the Minnesota Wild has activated forward Pierre-Marc Bouchard from the Injured Reserve list and reassigned defenseman Steven Kampfer to the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL). The team also placed forwards Jake Dowell, Nick Palmieri and Stephane Veilleux on waivers for the purpose of reassigning them to Houston.
After missing most of last season with a concussion, Bouchard was solid in the scrimmage, taking contact and battling along the wall. He scored on a beautiful backhand shelf in the scrimmage’s overtime period. Bouchard told WildTV that his head feels great and he's ready to go on Saturday.
The Wild’s training camp roster stands at 25 players, including 18-year-old blueliner Mathew Dumba, who was the Wild’s first pick in the 2012 NHL Draft.
"He's earned it," Wild Head Coach Mike Yeo said about Dumba remaining at camp.
The Wild has two more days of Training Camp before it opens the season against the Colorado Avalanche on Jan. 19, Hockey Day Minnesota, at Xcel Energy Center.
