Wild Recalls Brodin

The Minnesota Wild has recalled defenseman Jonas Brodin from the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Minnesota’s first-round selection (10th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft started the season with the Houston Aeros, but was sidelined for a majority of the first half with an upper-body injury. Brodin returned to the Aeros lineup last night for a 3-2 victory against the Milwaukee Admirals. In nine games with Houston, he collected four points (2-2=4). The 19-year-old will join the Wild on its upcoming two game road trip. On Friday, Minnesota will face the Detroit Red Wings at 6:30 p.m. CST and Sunday the club travels to St. Louis to square off against Blues at 7:00 p.m. He will wear the No. 25 sweater for Minnesota.

The blueliner notched eight assists, 14 penalty minutes and a plus-6 rating in 49 games with Farjestads in Sweden’s Elite League last season. Brodin helped Sweden win the gold medal at 2012 World Junior Championship, tallying four assists and in six games. He also skated in seven contests for Sweden at the 2012 World Championship and collected one goal. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound native of Karlstad, Sweden tallied four assists in 42 games with Farjestads in 2010-11 and finished fourth on the team with a plus-6 rating. Brodin added two goals in 14 playoff games to help Farjestads claim the Swedish Championship. He notched one assist in four games as Sweden claimed a silver medal at the 2011 Under-18 World Championship.
