Zucker Earns AHL All-Rookie Team Nod
One of the Minnesota Wild’s prized prospects will takes home some individual hardware this season. Wild prospect Jason Zucker has been named to the 2012-13 American Hockey League All-Rookie Team.
The speedy winger is tied for the Houston Aeros, the Wild's AHL affiliate, point lead with 48 (24-24=48) while appearing in 53 games in Houston.
The 21-year-old has been clutch and is tied for the AHL lead with eight game-winning goals, including three overtime winners. Half of his 24 goals have come on the power play.
The Wild’s second-round pick (59th overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft has four goals and an assist in 14 games with Minnesota this season. He appeared in six games with the Wild last year posting two assists, after signing an entry-level contract after two years at the University of Denver.
AHL coaches, players and media in each of the league’s 30 member cities, voted the AHL All-Rookie Team. The team consists of one goaltender, two defensemen and three forwards. The other players honored: G Niklas Svedberg, Providence Bruins, D Justin Schultz, Oklahoma City Barons, D Sami Vatanen, Norfolk Admirals, F Ryan Spooner, Providence Bruins, and F Tyler Toffoli, Manchester Monarchs. Each All-Rookie Team member will receive a custom-designed crystal award in recognition of his selection to the team.
