Houston Aeros 2012-13 Record: 38-25-5-5, 86 points, Third Place in South Division
The Houston Aeros, the Minnesota Wild’s American Hockey League affiliate, went 2-1-0 last week to remain in third place in the AHL’s South Division and fifth in the Western Conference. The Aeros announced Thursday that D Drew Bagnall has been named the team’s winner of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the Houston community during the 2012-13 season.
Houston lost to the Oklahoma City Barons, 4-1, on Wednesday night, ending the club’s three-game winning streak. G Jeff Deslauriers played the first 32 minutes of action with 28 saves prior to leaving with an injury and taking the loss. G Mike Condon came in for a relief appearance, stopping six of eight shots faced while D Kyle Medvecscored Houston’s lone goal in the defeat.
The Aeros earned two victories versus the San Antonio Rampage, 4-3, Thursday and in its last home game, 4-1, Saturday. C Chad Rau and RW Justin Fontaine each had a goal and an assist in the first game while LW Jason Zucker chipped in two assists. Condon made his first AHL start, stopping 30 of 33 San Antonio shots for his first AHL win. Fontaine led the charge, scoring twice and adding an assist in the second matchup against the Rampage while Rau (1-1=2) and D Brian Connelly (0- 2=2) each had a multi-point game, as the Aeros concluded their 10-game home stand with a 5-3-1-1 record.
Houston will complete its regular season this week with a three-game road trip in Texas, San Antonio and Oklahoma City.
LW Raphael Bussieres - Baie-Comeau, (QMJHL): The Wild's second-round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft is T-8th in playoff scoring with 13 points (3-10=13) in seven games. Baie-Comeau is set to face Blainville-Boisbriand in the semifinas. In 60 games this season Bussieres has 68 points (29-39=68) and is plus-27.
D Mathew Dumba - Red Deer (WHL): Minnesota's first-round pick in June's NHL Entry Draft was assigned to the Houston Aeros Monday. In 62 games this season Dumba has 42 points (16-26=42) and is plus-10.
C Tyler Graovac - Ottawa/Belleville (OHL): Named 2012-13 recipient of the William Hanley Trophy (OHL's Most Sportsmanlike Player) Monday Signed an entry-level contract with Minnesota April 2. Graovac is T-2nd in OHL playoff scoring with 17 points (5-12=17) in 10 games. The Bulls topped Mississauga seven games, and lead Sudbury, 3-0. Graovac finished the regular season T-9th in the OHL with 38 goals and had 73 points (38-35=73).
D Colton Jobke - Regina (WHL): Finished his second season with Regina. Had surgery to repair severed tendons in his left hand after being injured Nov. 9, returned Dec. 29.
D John Draeger - Michigan State (CCHA): Finished his freshman season at Michigan State after the Spartans dropped their CCHA Quarterfinal series at Miami in three games. In 42 games, Draeger had 10 points (1-9=10).
RW Adam Gilmour - Muskegon (USHL): Minnesota's fourth-round selection in June's NHL Entry Draft tallied two assists in two games last week. Gilmour leads Muskegon in assists (26), points (19-26=45), and plus/minus rating. (plus-16). Muskegon faces Dubuque in first round of playoffs.
LW Erik Haula - U. of Minnesota (WCHA): Has two assists in three games with Houston. Signed an entry-level contract with the Wild April 7. Haula led the Gophers in points (16-35=51), assists (35), and finished second in goals (16).
LW Mario Lucia - Notre Dame (CCHA): Helped Notre Dame to the CCHA Championship and was named to the CCHA All-Rookie team. In his freshman season for Notre Dame, Lucia tallied 23 points (12-11=23).
LW Louis Nanne - Penticton (BCHL): T-2nd on Penticton in playoff scoring. Tied with Surrey, 2-2 in the Fred Page Finals. In 45 games this season, Nanne has 41 points (19-22=41) points.
D Nick Seeler - Nebraska-Omaha: Seeler finished his freshman season as Nebraska-Omaha fell to Minnesota State in three games in the first round of the WCHA Playoffs. Seeler played in 31 games recording 9 points (2-7=9) and was plus-7.
RW Christoph Bertschy - SC Bern (Swiss): Has two goal in 20 playoff games with Bern. For the season Bertschy has played in 41 games with four goals and two assists for a plus-1 rating.
D Daniel Gunnarsson - Lulea HF (SEL): TTrails Skelleftea, 3-0, in the finals. Gunnarsson has 17 points (6-11=17) in 53 games.
Johan Gustafsson - Lulea HF (SEL): Trails Skelleftea, 3-0, in the finals. Gustafsson finished the regular season ranked fourth amongst all Elite League goalies in GAA and fifth in SV%, having stopped 787-of-847 shots.
Stephen Michalek - Cedar Rapids (USHL): Did not play last week. Has a 3.09 goals-against average, .900 save percentage, and a 7-6-3 record.
