Postgame Notes vs. Los Angeles - April 23

RW Charlie Coyle and RW Cal Clutterbuck scored 16 seconds apart en route to a 2-1 Wild victory against Los Angeles Tuesday night at Xcel Energy Center. G Niklas Backstrom made 22 saves in the victory. The Wild finishes its three-game homestand with its final home game of the season Friday, facing Edmonton at 7 p.m. on FOX Sports North PLUS and KFAN 100.3 FM.

Minnesota moved to 14-7-2 at Xcel Energy Center this season. Tonight’s attendance of 18,825 was the Wild’s 19th straight sellout at Xcel Energy Center and 21st of the season.

RW Charlie Coyle scored the game’s opening goal and now has four points (2-1=3) in his last four games. The rookie has 12 points (8-4=12) in 35 games this season, including six points (5-1=5) in his last 13 games.

RW Cal Clutterbuck netted his first game-winning goal of the season. He posted his first goal in 19 games and now has nine points (4-5=9) this season.

D Jonas Brodin notched an assist, recorded a +1 rating and skated in a career-high 29:22 TOI – 2:03 more than his previous high. He has 11 points (2-9=11) in 43 games and, as the youngest defenseman in the NHL, leads all rookies in TOI/game.

D Ryan Suter skated 32:17 – the third-highest TOI of his career. He’s topped the 30-minute mark in TOI in five of his last nine games and ninth time this season. The Wild moved to 14-1-1 when he posts a +1 or better this season.

G Niklas Backstrom stopped 22-of-23 shots and is T-1st in the NHL with 23 victories this season.

LW Zach Parise tallied an assist to extend his team lead to 37 points (17-20=37) this season. He has 15 points (6-9=15) in his last 19 games and 22 points (9-13=22) in his last 24 contests.

D Tom Gilbert recorded an assist and now has three helpers in his last five games. The blueliner has 12 points (3-9=12) in 41 games this season.

Coyle’s goal stopped Los Angeles G Jonathan Bernier’s shutout streak versus the Wild at 89:06. He had three shutouts in his last five starts against Minnesota entering tonight’s game.

The Wild moved to 17-4-1 when opening the game’s scoring this season. Minnesota netted its first two-goal opening period since March 16 at Colorado.

Six of the last seven games between the Wild and Kings in Saint Paul have been decided by a goal.
