Wild Postgame Notes vs. Edmonton - April 26

Edmonton LW Taylor Hall and C Jordan Eberle each netted a goal and two assists as the Oilers claimed a 6-1 victory against the Wild Friday night at Xcel Energy Center. C Mikko Koivu scored for Minnesota. The Wild finishes the regular season tomorrow in Denver, visiting the Avalanche at 6:30 p.m. CT on FOX Sports North and KFAN 100.3 FM.

Minnesota finished the season 14-8-2 at Xcel Energy Center this season. Tonight’s attendance of 19,090 was the Wild’s 20th straight sellout at Xcel Energy Center and 22nd of the season. The Wild had a total attendance of 451,075 this season to set a new franchise record with an average attendance of 18,794, surpassing an average of 18,575 fans-per-game in 2005-06.

The Wild moved to 19-2-0 in its last 21 home meetings with Edmonton.

C Mikko Koivu scored his 11th goal of the season and 119th of his career – tying Andrew Brunette for second on the team’s all-time goal list. The Wild captain won 12-of-16 faceoffs on the nights. He ranks second on the Wild with 36 points (11-25=36) this season, and the Wild moved 7-1-2 this season when Koivu scores.

RW Charlie Coyle netted an assist and now has his first three-game point streak of his career (1-2=3). The rookie has four points (2-2=4) in his last five games, seven points (5-2=7) in his last 14 games and 13 points (8-5=13) in 36 games this season.

The Wild outshot Edmonton, 39-17.

G Niklas Backstrom was replaced in net after allowing three goals on five shots. He earned his first loss against Edmonton in Saint Paul of his career, previously posting a 17-0-0 record with a 1.34 GAA, a .948 SV% and four shutouts. It was just the third time he allowed more than two goals in that span.

G Josh Harding played in his fifth game of the season, his first since Feb. 7, and made nine saves. He missed 33 games this season as he battles multiple sclerosis.

RW Mike Rupp returned to the lineup after missing four games with a lower-body injury.

Minnesota can clinch a spot in the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time in five years with a victory tomorrow in Denver.
