Analysis:
With its first pick of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft the Wild selected Swedish defenseman, Gustav Olofsson. Olofsson spent the past season with the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League (USHL). This past season the 18-year-old had 31 points (2-29=31) in 63 games, while accumulating 59 PIM. He is a Colorado College recruit and has lived in the United States since first grade. "Gustav is a big mobile D-man that really jumped up our draft rankings," Wild Assistant GM Brent Flahr said. "He's an intelligent player with quality natural instincts for the game. We feel like his game will continue to improve as he gets stronger and gains experience." His scouting report says that he is smart, smooth skating defenseman, not known for being overly physical. Sounds just like 2011 first-round pick Jonas Brodin who was named to the all-rookie team earlier this week.
