Wild Prospects Report - Oct. 30
An updated look at the Wild\'s prospects and how they\'re faring

The Iowa Wild, Minnesota Wild’s American Hockey League Affiliate, began its five-game homestand this past week, splitting the first two games against the Chicago Wolves and the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Iowa won the first match Thursday Oct. 24, defeating the Wolves in a 5-4 shootout. Forward Taylor Matson ended the shootout in the sixth round while Tyler Graovac, Raphael Bussieres, Kris Foucault and Brett Bulmer each scored in regulation. G Johan Gustafsson started the game, allowing four goals on 16 shots. G Darcy Kuemper came into the game in relief halfway through and earned the victory after stopping all 21 shots faced and allowed three of six shootout goals. The Wild lost its second match of the week Sunday, 3-2, to the Griffins. Griffins forward, Landon Ferraro, scored a shorthanded goal with 35 seconds left in the game to lead Grand Rapids to victory. C Warren Peters (1-1=2) and LW Jason Zucker (1-0=1) netted the goals for the Wild while Kuemper made 23 saves in the loss. C Carson McMillan leads the team in scoring with six points (2-4=6) while C Zack Phillips (2-3=5) and Peters (1-4=5) have five points each. Kuemper is 2-2-0 with a 2.55 GAA and a .915 SV% and Gustafsson is 2-0-0 with a 1.99 GAA, a .935 SV% and one shutout.

Iowa continues its homestand with three games this weekend hosting the Texas Stars on Friday and Saturday night and the Milwaukee Admirals on Sunday night.


RW Kurtis Gabriel - Owen Sound (OHL): The Wild’s third-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft ranks fourth on Owen Sound with 12 points (4-8=12) in 11 games…tallied four points in three games (2-2=4) this week as the Attack went 1-2 in those games…was named an assistant captain Oct. 15.

D Dylan Labbe - Shawinigan (QMJHL): Minnesota’s fourth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft ranks third and leads all defensemen on Shawinigan with 10 points (2-8=10) in 15 games.


D Nolan De Jong - Michigan (Big Ten): The Wild’s seventh-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft had four shots on goal this week as Michigan beat Boston University, 2-1, and lost to University of Massachusetts-Lowell, 2-1, at home.

D John Draeger - Michigan State (Big Ten): Minnesota’s third-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft is currently sidelined with an abdominal injury.

C Adam Gilmour - Boston College (Hockey East): The Wild’s fourth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft has three points in five games in his first year at Boston College.

LW Mario Lucia - Notre Dame (Hockey East): The Wild’s second-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft tallied a goal as the Irish split two games at University of Minnesota-Duluth this week.

LW Louis Nanne - Souix Falls (USHL): Minnesota’s seventh-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft is currently sidelined following shoulder surgery this summer and is expected to be out until mid-December.

D Gustav Olofsson - Colorado College (NCHC): The Wild’s first pick, a second-round selection, in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft is out with a shoulder injury and is expected to be out four to six weeks.

C Avery Peterson - Souix City (USHL): Minnesota’s sixth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft tallied five points (1-4=5) in two games this week…Peterson ranks third on the Musketeers with seven points.

D Nick Seeler - Nebraska Omaha (NCHC): The Wild’s fifth-round selection in 2011 NHL Entry Draft leads the Mavericks in penalty minutes this season and has posted a goal and assist.

D Carson Soucy - Minnesota Duluth (NCHC): Minnesota’s fifth-round selection in 2013 NHL Entry Draft tallied two assists during the Bulldog’s weekend split vs. Notre Dame…Soucy shares the team lead in assists with three.


C Christoph Bertschy - SC Bern (Swiss): The Wild’s sixth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft netted his third goal of the season this week and now has four points in his second full season with Bern.

D Daniel Gunnarsson - Lulea HF (Sweden): Minnesota’s fifth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft ranks third amongst Lulea Defensemen with four points on the season.


Alexandre Belanger - Rouyn-Noranda (QMJHL): The Wild’s seventh-round selection in this summer’s 2013 NHL Entry Draft was named third star of the week (Oct. 21-27) after going 3-0-0 with a 2.33 GAA and a .926 SV%…Ranks 16th in the QMJHL as he is 7-2-0 with a 3.58 GAA and a .873 SV% in 10 games in his return to Rouyn-Noranda.

Steven Michalek - Harvard (ECAC): Minnesota’s sixth-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft started his first game of the season Oct. 29 at Rensselaer stopping 22-of-25 shots in the Crimson’s 3-3 overtime tie.
