Pominville Named NHL\'s First Star

has been named the National Hockey League’s First Star of the Week.

The forward ranked tied for first in the NHL in goals (4) and scoring last week with six points. He scored the Wild's lone goal in a 5-1 loss to Chicago (Monday), tallied two goals (including GWG) and an assist in a 4-3 win vs. Montreal (Friday) and tallied a goal and assist in a 4-0 win vs. New Jersey (Sunday). Pominville has a goal in the last four games (6-2=8) and currently ranks first in the NHL in goals scored since Oct. 14 with nine and tied for third overall this season with 10.

The 30-year-old sits at 199 career goals, with his current four-game goal streak (6) is his longest since Nov. 12-19, 2008 (Sabres). His 10 goals and 12 points lead Wild, tied for team lead with 3 multi-point games this season (Granlund) and a plus-6 rating (Cooke, Ballard, Stoner). Pominville has also been clutch as his three GWG is tied for first in the NHL.

He becomes the fourth Wild player to be named the First Star of the Week, following Josh Harding (11/7/11), Marian Gaborik (1/13/08, 12/23/07) and Niklas Backstrom (12/19/06).
