Iowa Wild 2013-14 Record: 7-11-0-0, 14 points, Fifth Place in Midwest Division
The Iowa Wild, Minnesota Wild’s American Hockey League Affiliate, snapped a six-game losing streak with a 3-1 victory over the Chicago Wolves at Allstate Arena last Wednesday. LW Jason Zucker scored twice and LW Stephane Veilleux also scored. G Darcy Kuemper made 32 saves to earn his fourth win of the season. D Brian Connelly (0-11=11) leads the team this season with 11 points. Zucker (6-4=10) and LW Erik Haula (4-6=10) are tied for second with 10 points each and D Jonathon Blum (2-7=9) follows with nine points. G Johan Gustafsson is 3-3-0 with a 2.62 GAA, a .910 SV% and one shutout in seven games and Kuemper is 4-7-0 with a 2.78 GAA and a .914 SV% in 11 games. Iowa will continue its road trip this week playing at San Antonio Wednesday and back-to-back games at Texas on Friday and Saturday. For full Iowa stats, go here.
CANADIAN HOCKEY LEAGUES
RW Kurtis Gabriel - Owen Sound (OHL): The Wild’s third-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft totaled two points (1-1=2) and two penalty minutes in three games in the past week. Owen Sound went 2-1-0 in those games. Ranks T-1st on the team in assists (16), third in PIM (47) and T-3rd in scoring (23).
D Dylan Labbe - Shawinigan (QMJHL): Minnesota’s fourth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft leads Shawinigan defensemen and ranks third on team in assists (11) and fourth in scoring (13).
D Nolan De Jong - Michigan (Big Ten): The Wild’s seventh-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft recorded an assist and two penalty minutes in two games last week as Michigan won both games in a home-and-home series against Ohio State. Has three assists and is plus-5 in his freshman season.
D John Draeger - Michigan State (Big Ten): Minnesota’s third-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft tallied three assists and plus-3 rating as Michigan State won both its home games against Princeton last week. The Spartans will host the University of Minnesota this weekend.
C Adam Gilmour - Boston College (Hockey East): The Wild’s fourth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft recorded four shots on goal as Boston College suffered a 5-4 loss at Holy Cross in its sole game last week (11/29). Ranks third on the Eagles in shots on net (36) and has two goals and seven assists in his freshman year.
LW Mario Lucia - Notre Dame (Hockey East): Wild’s second-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft netted his sixth goal of the season as Notre Dame went 1-1-0 in two games last weekend. Ranks T-5th on Notre Dame in points (6-3=9) and T-6th in power-play scoring (3-1=4).
LW Louis Nanne - Sioux Falls (USHL): Minnesota’s seventh-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft returned to action last week, recording an assist and two penalty minutes in Sioux Fall’s 10-4 victory over Team USA (11/30). Missed 22 games following shoulder surgery this summer.
D Gustav Olofsson - Colorado College (NCHC): The Wild’s second-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft recorded four shots on goal in two games as Colorado College dropped its home weekend series against New Hampshire. Tallied three points (2-1=3) in five games, including a three-game point streak (11/19-11/23) after missing four games with a shoulder injury (10/25-11/2).
C Avery Peterson - Grand Rapids (High School): Minnesota’s sixth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft tallied an assist in the Thunderhawks 2-1 win over Forest Lake extending his point streak to 26 games. He leads the team in scoring (2-2=4).
D Nick Seeler - Nebraska Omaha (NCHC): Nebraska Omaha did not play last week. The Wild’s fifth-round selection in 2011 NHL Entry Draft is T-3rd on the Mavericks in penalty minutes (20 PIM) this season and has a goal and three assists.
D Carson Soucy - Minnesota Duluth (NCHC): Minnesota Duluth did not play last week. Minnesota’s fifth-round selection in 2013 NHL Entry Draft is T-5th on the team in assists (4) and second among defensemen in points (0-4=4).
C Christoph Bertschy - SC Bern (Swiss): The Wild’s sixth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft tallied an assist and two penalty minutes in three games last week. Ranks T-6th on the team in goals (4) and T-8th in assists (6).
D Daniel Gunnarsson - Lulea HF (Sweden): Minnesota’s fifth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft ranks T-4th on Lulea in assists (9), leads all defensemen and ranks sixth on the team in scoring (1-9=10).
Alexandre Belanger - Rouyn-Noranda (QMJHL): Wild’s seventh-round selection in this summer’s 2013 NHL Entry Draft went 1-0-1 in two starts last week. T-5th in QMJHL in wins (13) and 15th in goals-against average (3.30 GAA).
Steve Michalek - Harvard (ECAC): Minnesota’s sixth-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft did not play in Harvard’s two games last week as the Crimson went 1-1-0. On the season, he is 1-3-1 with a 3.17 GAA and .908 SV%.
