Wild Prospects Report - Dec. 11

Iowa Wild 2013-14 Record: 8-12-1-0, 17 points, Fifth Place in Midwest Division

The Iowa Wild, Minnesota Wild’s American Hockey League Affiliate, continued its six-game road trip with three games last week going 1-1-1. The Wild defeated the Rampage in a 5-4 shootout last Wednesday (12/4). F Tyler Graovac scored the winning shootout goal in the seventh round while F Jason Zucker (1-1=2) and D Brian Connelly (1-1=2) led the team with two points each. G Darcy Kuemper saved 44 shots and six of seven in the shootout. Iowa ended its three-game road winning streak with a 4-2 loss in the first of back-to-back matchups against Texas (12/6). F Brett Bulmer scored both the goals for the team and Kuemper stopped 34-of-37 shots. The Wild dropped the second match against the Stars, 2-1 in overtime (12/7). Graovac netted Iowa’s lone goal and Kuemper made 44 saves in the team’s first-ever overtime defeat. Connelly leads the Wild this season with 14 points (1-13=14) and Zucker is second with 12 points (7-5=12). D Jonathon Blum has 13 points (3-10=13) and Bulmer leads the team with eight goals and is tied for fourth in scoring with 10 points (8-2=10). Kuemper is 5-9-0 with a 2.80 GAA and a .919 SV% in 14 matches while G Johan Gustafsson is 3-3-0 with a 2.62 GAA, a .910 SV% and one shutout in seven games. Iowa finishes its road trip with back-to-back games at Abbotsford on Wednesday and Thursday and hosts Rockford on Sunday. For full Iowa stats, go here.


RW Kurtis Gabriel - Owen Sound (OHL): The Wild’s third-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft recorded nine penalty minutes in three games last week in which Owen Sound went 2-1-0. Ranks first on the team in PIM (56), T-4th in goals (7) and fifth in scoring (23).

D Dylan Labbe - Shawinigan (QMJHL): Minnesota’s fourth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft leads Shawinigan defensemen and ranks third on team in assists (11) and PIM (12), and fourth in scoring (13).


D Nolan De Jong - Michigan (Big Ten): The Wild’s seventh-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft tallied an assist as Michigan dropped its exhibition game against the USA Under-18 team, 5-4 in overtime (12/5). Has four assists and is plus-5 in his freshman season.

D John Draeger - Michigan State (Big Ten): Minnesota’s third-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft recorded two shots on net as Michigan State went 0-1-1 in its home weekend series against Minnesota. Has three assists and is plus-4 in six games played this season.

C Adam Gilmour - Boston College (Hockey East): The Wild’s fourth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft tallied an assist in two games as Boston College won its home-and-home series against New Hampshire. Ranks third on the Eagles in shots on net (38) and has two goals and six assists in his freshman year.

LW Mario Lucia - Notre Dame (Hockey East): Wild’s second-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft netted his
recorded four points (3-1=4) in Notre Dame’s weekend split against Massachusetts and scored three points (2-1=3) on 12/7 earning his second two-goal game of the season and third of his career. Ranks third on Notre Dame in points and T-2nd in power-play scoring (5-2=7).

LW Louis Nanne - Sioux Falls (USHL): Minnesota’s seventh-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft and Sioux Falls sufferd a 5-1 loss vs. Sioux City in its sole game last week (12/7). Has one assist this season after he missed 22 games following shoulder surgery this summer.

D Gustav Olofsson - Colorado College (NCHC): The Wild’s second-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft tallied an assist in two games as Colorado College went 1-1-0 against Nebraska Omaha last weekend. Named to Sweden’s U20 preliminary roster for the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championships (12/5). Tallied three points (2-1=3) in five games, including a three-game point streak (11/19-11/23) after missing four games with a shoulder injury (10/25-11/2).

C Avery Peterson - Grand Rapids (High School): Minnesota’s sixth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft recorded four points (3-1=4) in Grand Rapids’ two games last week extending his point streak to 28 games. He leads the team in scoring (5-3=8). Collected eight points (3-5=8) including 2 PPG and a +3 rating in 11 games with Sioux City (USHL).

D Nick Seeler - Nebraska Omaha (NCHC): Nebraska Omaha went 0-1-1 at Colorado College last weekend suffering a 4-2 loss Friday and a 3-3 overtime tie Saturday. The Wild’s fifth-round selection in 2011 NHL Entry Draft is T-3rd on the Mavericks in penalty minutes (20 PIM) this season and has a goal and three assists.

D Carson Soucy - Minnesota Duluth (NCHC):  Minnesota’s fifth-round selection in 2013 NHL Entry Draft tallied an assist and two penalty minutes in two games as Minnesota Duluth dropped its home weekend series against St. Cloud State. Ranks T-4th on the team in assists (5) and second among defensemen in points (0-5=5).


C Christoph Bertschy - SC Bern (Swiss): The Wild’s sixth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft was named to Switzerland’s preliminary roster for world junior tournament but will not participate due to ankle injury. Ranks T-7th on the team in goals (4) and T-9th in assists (6).

D Daniel Gunnarsson - Lulea HF (Sweden): Minnesota’s fifth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft
ranks T-4th on Lulea in assists (9), leads all defensemen and ranks sixth on the team in scoring (1-9=10)


Alexandre Belanger - Rouyn-Noranda (QMJHL): Wild’s seventh-round selection in this summer’s 2013 NHL Entry Draft went 2-0-0 last week. Ranks T-2nd in QMJHL in wins (15) and 10th in GAA (3.21). Earned his first shutout of the season as the Huskies blanked Sherbrooke, 3-0 (11/16). Named QMJHL third star of the week on Oct. 28 after going 3-0-0 with a 2.33 GAA and a .926 SV%

Steve Michalek - Harvard (ECAC): Minnesota’s sixth-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft did not play in Harvard’s two games last week as the Crimson loss 2-1 at Brown (12/6) and tied Yale 2-2 (12/7). On the season, he is 1-3-1 with a 3.17 GAA and .908 SV%.
