St. Louis scored a pair of second-period goals en route to a 2-1 victory over Minnesota in front of a sellout crowd of 18,919 fans Tuesday night at Xcel Energy Center. D Ryan Suter scored the Wild’s goal, while G Josh Harding made 21 saves. Next up, Minnesota continues its four-game homestand with the Buffalo Sabres Thursday at 7 p.m. CT on FOX Sports North and KFAN 100.3 FM.

Minnesota hosted its eighth consecutive New Year’s Eve game at Xcel Energy Center and 10th overall in team history. The Wild moved to a 5-5-0 record on home ice in those games. Today’s contest continued a stretch of only facing Western Conference opponents on the holiday. Overall, Minnesota moved to 5-6-1 in games played on New Year’s Eve.

The Wild is winless in its last seven contests against St. Louis (0-5-2). Minnesota’s last win came Nov. 19, 2011 - a 3-2 shootout victory at Xcel Energy Center.

The Wild moved to 12-4-5 in one-goal games this season. Ten of the last 12 Wild wins have been decided by one goal.

Minnesota is 14-5-2 in Saint Paul this season. The Wild has won 10 of its last 14 games and 14 of its last 19 contests on home ice.

G Josh Harding moved to 18-7-3 in 29 games this season. He is 14-3-0 on home ice this season, posting a 35-12-2 record in his career starts at Xcel Energy Center, including 28-7-1 since Jan. 27, 2010 and 17-4-0 in his last 21 starts in Saint Paul. He earned regulation losses in consecutive games for the first time since March 24-27, 2012.

D Ryan Suter netted his second goal of the season and in as many games with eight seconds left in regulation. He ranks fourth on the team with 24 points in 42 games this season (2-22=24). He skated 31:07 tonight, topping the 30-minute mark in seven of the last nine games, 16 of the last 27 contests and 21 times overall this season.

C Mikko Koivu tallied an assist on Suter’s goal and leads Minnesota with 31 points (8-23=31) in 42 games this season.

C Charlie Coyle tallied the primary assist on Suter’s goal and has 11 points in 30 games this season (4-7=11).

RW T.J. Oshie and LW Jaden Schwartz each scored for St. Louis, while G Brian Elliott made 24 saves. RW Chris Stewart left the game in the second period and did not return with an upper-body injury.
