An updated look at the Wild\'s prospects and how they\'re developing

Iowa Wild 2013-14 Record: 13-14-2-0, 28 points, Fifth Place in Midwest Division

The Iowa Wild, Minnesota Wild’s American Hockey League Affiliate, completed its six-game homestand (4-2- 0) splitting two games last week. The Wild defeated the Rockford IceHogs 5-2 Thursday. F Erik Haula (1- 1=2), D Steven Kampfer (1-1=2), F Tyler Graovac, F Jake Dowell and F Zack Phillips each scored for the club while F Raphael Bussieres and D Jon Landry had two assists each. G John Curry made 37 saves to earn the win. Iowa had its six-game point streak snapped with a 4-0 loss to the Milwaukee Admirals Sunday. G Johan Gustafsson stopped 19-of-23 shots in the defeat. Haula (8- 8=16) and D Jonathon Blum (3- 13=16) lead the Wild with 16 points each this season. D Brian Connelly is third with 15 points (1-14=15) and F Brett Bulmer (9-5=14) leads the team with nine goals. G Darcy Kuemper is 7-10-0 with a 2.47 GAA, a .929 SV% and one shutout in 17 games and ranks tied for first in the AHL in SV%. Gustafsson is 4-5-0 with a 3.06 GAA, a .892 SV% and one shutout in 10 games. Iowa begins a six-game road trip with games at Rockford on Friday and at Chicago on Saturday this week.

CANADIAN HOCKEY LEAGUES

RW Kurtis Gabriel - Owen Sound (OHL): The Wild’s third-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft recorded three points (2-1=3) in three games over the last two weeks. Ranks T-2nd on team in assists (18), second in PIM (60), fourth in scoring (9-18=27) and T-4th in goals (9).

D Dylan Labbe - Shawinigan (QMJHL): Minnesota’s fourth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft tallied two points in four games (1-1=2) in the last two weeks. Leads Shawinigan defensemen and ranks third on the team in assists (12), fourth in scoring (4-12=16) and T-9th in PIM (16).

COLLEGE/USHL

D Nolan De Jong - Michigan (Big Ten): The Wild’s seventh-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and Michigan lost both their games in the Great Lakes Invitational last weekend dropping the first round to Western Michigan with a 3-2 overtime loss and suffering a 3-0 shutout defeat in the consolation game against Michigan State.

D John Draeger - Michigan State (Big Ten): Minnesota’s third-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft tallied two assists in two games as Michigan State took third place in the Great Lakes Invitational last weekend. Missed nine games due to an abdominal injury (10/9-11/9).

C Adam Gilmour - Boston College (Hockey East): The Wild’s fourth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft recorded two penalty minutes in two games as Boston College won the Three Rivers Classic last weekend. Ranks T-5th on the Eagles in shots on net (39).

LW Mario Lucia - Notre Dame (Hockey East): Notre Dame will return to action Jan. 4 vs. Boston College at Fenway Park. The Wild’s second-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft scored three points (2-1=3) on 12/7 earning his second two-goal game of the season and third of his career. Ranks third on the Irish in points (9-4=12) and T-2nd in power-play scoring (5-2=7).

LW Louis Nanne - Sioux Falls (USHL): Minnesota’s seventh-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft recorded four shots on net and two penalty minutes in Sioux Falls three games last week. Recorded an assist and two penalty minutes in his return to action Nov. 30 after missing 22 games following shoulder surgery this summer.

D Gustav Olofsson - Colorado College (NCHC): The Wild’s second-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft is representing Sweden in the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championships and has tallied four points (1-3=4) including a GWG and tied for tournament lead with a plus-six rating in four games. Recorded a goal and two assists in Sweden’s 10-0 victory over Norway Dec. 29. Sweden will play Slovakia in the quarterfinals Wednesday. Tallied three points (2-1=3) in five games, including a three-game point streak (11/19-11/23) after missing four games with a shoulder injury (10/25-11/2).

C Avery Peterson - Grand Rapids (High School): Minnesota’s sixth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft recorded 15 points (7-8=15) in six games over the last two weeks extending his point streak to 36 games. Registered four goals, including two PPGs in the Thunderhawks 7-2 victory over St. Francis Dec. 27. Leads team in goals (14), assists (14) and scoring (14-14=28). Collected eight points (3-5=8) including 2 PPG and a +3 rating in 11 games with Sioux City (USHL).

D Nick Seeler - Nebraska Omaha (NCHC): Nebraska Omaha did not play last week and will return for its second half Jan. 3 at New Hampshire.The Wild’s fifth-round selection in 2011 NHL Entry Draft is T-3rd on the Mavericks in PIM (20) this season.

D Carson Soucy - Minnesota Duluth (NCHC): Minnesota Duluth will return to action Jan. 3 in an exhibition game vs. the USA Under-18 team. Minnesota’s fifth-round selection in 2013 NHL Entry Draft ranks T-5th on the team in assists (5) and third among defensemen in points (0-5=5).

EUROPE

C Christoph Bertschy - SC Bern (Swiss): The Wild’s sixth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft was named to Switzerland’s preliminary roster for world junior tournament but will not participate due to an ankle injury. Ranks T-8th on the team in goals (4) and T-9th in assists (6).

D Daniel Gunnarsson - Lulea HF (Sweden): Minnesota’s fifth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft recorded two penalty minutes in three games last week. Ranks T-5th on Lulea in assists (10), leads all defensemen and ranks T-6th on the team in scoring (1-10=11).

GOALTENDERS

Alexandre Belanger - Rouyn-Noranda (QMJHL): Wild’s seventh-round selection in this summer’s 2013 NHL Entry Draft went 3-0-1 in four games over the last two weeks. Ranks T- 2nd in QMJHL in wins (19) and T-14th in GAA (3.28). Earned first shutout of the season as the Huskies blanked Sherbrooke, 3-0 (11/16). Named QMJHL third star of the week on Oct. 28 after going 3-0- 0 with a 2.33 GAA and a .926 SV%.

Steve Michalek - Harvard (ECAC): Minnesota’s sixth-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft did not play in Harvard’s 9-3 victory over the Russian Red Stars in an exhibition game Dec. 29.
