Postgame Notes vs. Dallas - Jan. 18

D Nate Prosser scored with 2:18 left in overtime – his second game winner in as many contests – to lead the Wild to a 3-2 overtime victory versus Dallas in front of a sellout crowd of 19,192 fans – largest crowd of the season Saturday night at Xcel Energy Center. Next up, the Wild hits the road for one game, visiting Dallas Tuesday at 7 p.m. on NBC Sports Network and KFAN 100.3 FM.

Tonight’s game was part of the eighth annual Wells Fargo Hockey Day Minnesota on FOX Sports North. The Wild improved to 6-1-1 all-time on Hockey Day Minnesota, including five straight wins. Elk River was this year’s Hockey Day Minnesota host city, and Elk River native D Nate Prosser scored his first career OT winner.

Minnesota moved to 7-2-0 in 2014. The Wild moved to 18-7-2 in Saint Paul this season, winning 14 of its last 20 games and 18 of its last 25 contests on home ice.

The Wild won its first overtime game of the season, moving to 1-1 in OT.

C Erik Haula scored his first career NHL goal to open the game’s scoring. For the third consecutive year, a Wild player scored his first career NHL goal on Hockey Day Minnesota; Haula joins Mikael Granlund (Jan. 19, 2013) and Chad Rau (Jan. 21, 2012). Haula has three points (1-2=3) in 17 games this season.

D Ryan Suter scored his sixth goal of the season and has recorded at least one point in 13 of his last 19 games, totaling 16 points (6-10=16) in that span. He ranks third on the Wild with 31 points (6-25=31) this season, ninth amongst all NHL defensemen. He led all skaters with 32:15 TOI, hitting the 30-minute mark in 10 of the last 18 games and 24 times overall this season.

G Darcy Kuemper made his fourth consecutive start and sixth of the season, stopping 33-of-35 shots. Over his last five starts, he has posted a 0.954 SV% and a 1.36 GAA.

C Torrey Mitchell tallied an assist on Suter’s goal and earned a season-high plus-2 rating, tied for his career best. He has nine points (1-8=9) in 48 games this season.

D Jonas Brodin recorded an assist on Suter’s goal. Already totaling a career high in points this season, he now has 15 points (7-8=15) in 48 games.

The fourth annual State of Hockey Legacy Award was tonight presented to Lou Nanne. The award, a partnership between the Wild, Minnesota Hockey and FOX Sports North as a part of Hockey Day Minnesota, recognizes individuals who have made extraordinary and long-term contributions to hockey in Minnesota. Prior recipients are Lou Cotroneo, 2010 – Neal Broten, 2011 – Glen Sonmor, 2012. (There was no award in 2013 due to timing of Hockey Day coinciding with end of NHL work stoppage.)

LW Ryan Garbutt and RW Alex Chiasson scored for Dallas while G Kari Lehtonen made 16 saves in net.
