Postgame Notes vs. Columbus - March 15

Blue Jackets C Ryan Johansen scored the winning goal, after a video review deemed his shootout attempt was legal in a 2-1 Columbus shootout victory Saturday night at Xcel Energy Center in front of a crowd of 19,042 fans. RW Jason Pominville scored in regulation for Minnesota, while G Darcy Kuemper made 28 saves through overtime and stopped one shot in the shootout. Next up, Minnesota will hit the road for three games over four days beginning on Monday versus the Boston Bruins at 6:30 p.m. CT on NBC Sports Network and KFAN 100.3 FM.

Through 67 games, Minnesota has 80 points, setting a new franchise record of the 79 points it earned in 2007-08 (37-25-5) and 2006-07 (36-24-7).

Minnesota played in its seventh straight one-goal game (3-1-3) and its 11th one-goal game in its last 12 (6-2-4).

The Wild moved to 15-5-5 in 2014, having earned points in 15 of its last 18 games (10-3-5). Minnesota has earned points in 10 consecutive contests at Xcel Energy Center (7-0-3) and is 23-7-5 at Xcel Energy Center this season.

RW Jason Pominville tallied his 25th goal of the season to tie the game in the third period. It’s the 13th 25-goal season in Wild history, Pominville becomes the seventh player to do so, and first since Andrew Brunette and Guillaume Latendresse in 2009-10. He has eight points (3-5=8) in his last nine games and 14 points (7-7=14) in his last 15. He leads the Wild in goals and points this season (25-22=47).

LW Zach Parise tallied the primary assist on Pominville’s goal. He’s tallied at least one point in 11 of the last 13 games, totaling 17 points (8-9=17) in that span. He ranks second on the Wild with 44 points (23-21=44) in 52 games this season, missing 15 contests to injury. He also scored on his shootout attempt, moving to 5-of-12 this season (41.7%).

D Ryan Suter tallied the secondary assist on Pominville’s goal – marking the third time a Wild defenseman has reached the 30 assist mark in a season. He joins Marek Zidlicky who totaled 30 assists in 2008-09 and 37 in 2009-10. His 30 assists this season ranks T-13th in the NHL and lead the Wild. He ranks T-17th in the NHL with 36 points in 67 games this season (6-30=36).

C Mikael Granlund won 11-of-18 faceoffs tonight (61.1%), winning 33-of-48 (68.8%) of faceoffs over the last three games. He has seven points (1-6=7) in his last eight games, 15 points (3-12=15) in the last 15 contests and 23 points (4-19=23) in 30 games since returning from an upper-body injury (12/22).

Since they began playing on Jan. 30 in Colorado, Parise (7-7=14), Pominville (4-6=10) and Granlund (2-9=11) have combined for 35 points (13-22=35) – a span of 12 games. The rest of the Wild has totaled 17 goals in that time.

G Darcy Kuemper made 28 saves through overtime and stopped one-of-four shootout attempts in the shootout loss. It was his 21st start, moving to 12-4-4 this season, including 7-1-2 in Saint Paul.

The Wild did not record a penalty on home ice for the first time since Jan. 2, 2004 in a 2-1 loss vs. Edmonton. Minnesota played in a penalty-free game earlier this season, a 2-3 shootout loss at Colorado Nov. 30, 2013.

The Wild moved to 16-5-4 against the Blue Jackets in Saint Paul. Minnesota is 23-17-8 overall against Columbus.
