Wild Prospects Report - March 19
An updated look at the Wild\'s prospects and how they\'re developing

Iowa Wild 2013-14 Record: 25-25-6-4, 60 points, Fifth Place in Midwest Division

The Iowa Wild, Minnesota Wild’s American Hockey League affiliate, went 2-0-0 in two games last week. The Wild won its first match of the week over the Admirals with a 3-2 victory at Milwaukee Wednesday. C Zack Phillips led the team with two points (1-1=2) while LW Brett Bulmer and LW Stephane Veilleux also scored a goal apiece. G Johan Gustafsson earned his second straight win stopping 30-of-32 shots. Iowa took its second match of the week and the first of six consecutive home games with a 2-1 win against the San Antonio Rampage on Sunday. Forward Raphael Bussieres and D Steven Kampfer netted goals for Iowa as C Jake Dowell and D Corbin Baldwin each tallied an assist. Gustafsson made 28 saves for his third consecutive win. LW Brad Winchester leads the Wild with 32 points (17-15=32) this season. Phillips (11-17=28) and Blum (7-21=28) rank tied for second with 28 points while C Carson McMillan ranks fourth with 24 points (11-13=24). Gustafsson is 11-13-2 with a 2.90 GAA, a .908 SV% and one shutout in 29 games. Curry is 7-7-2 with a 2.31 GAA, .928 SV% and one shutout in 17 games. The Wild continues its six-game homestand hosting the Texas Stars on Wednesday and back-to-back games against the Grand Rapids Griffins on Friday and Saturday.

CANADIAN HOCKEY LEAGUES

C Brady Brassart - Calgary (WHL): Recorded five points (1-4=5) in three games last week. Ranks T-15th in WHL in scoring (35-50=85) and T-19th in goals (35). T-1st on Calgary in points (85), power-play goals (11), assists (50), T-2nd in goals (35) and third in PIM (94). Signed three-year entry level contract with Minnesota beginning in the 2014-15 season (3/1/14).

D Matt Dumba - Portland (WHL):
The Wild’s first-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft tallied seven points (3-4=7) in three games last week.

RW Kurtis Gabriel - Owen Sound (OHL): The Wild’s third-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft scored four points (2-2=4) in three games last week. Assistant captain ranks first on the team in assists (35), T-1st in PIM (99) and T-2nd in scoring (16-35=51).

D Dylan Labbe - Shawinigan (QMJHL): Minnesota’s fourth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft recorded two PIM in three games last week. Leads all defensemen and ranks third on the team in assists (18) and T-3rd in scoring (9-18=27).

RW Zack Mitchell - Guelph (OHL): Tallied two assists in two games last week. Ranks T-3rd in OHL in plus-minus (plus-52), T-9th in game-winning goals (7), T-14th in assists (52) and T-19th in scoring (31-52=83). Ranks T-2nd on Guelph in assists (52), plus-minus (plus-52) and fifth in goals (31). Signed three-year entry level contract with Minnesota starting in the 2014-15 season (3/4/14).

COLLEGE/USHL

D Nolan De Jong - Michigan (Big Ten): The Wild’s seventh-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and Michigan went 1-0-1 in its weekend series versus Minnesota. The Wolverines will face Penn State in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament (3/20) at Xcel Energy Center.

D John Draeger - Michigan State (Big Ten): The Wild’s third-round selection in the 2012 Entry Draft tallied an assist as Michigan State split its home weekend series against Wisconsin. The Spartans will start the Big Ten Tournament against Ohio State March 20 at Xcel Energy Center.

C Adam Gilmour - Boston College (Hockey East): The Wild’s fourth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft recorded three assists as Boston College went 1-2-0 in its three games against Notre Dame in the Hockey East Quarterfinals last weekend. Boston College is 18-3-2 in its last 23 games. Ranks fourth on team in PPG (4) and in GWG (3).

LW Mario Lucia - Notre Dame (Hockey East): The Wild’s second-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft scored two points (1-1=2) in Notre Dame three games last weekend. The Irish advance to the Hockey East Semifinals against UMass Lowell (3/21). Ranks T-2nd on the Irish in points (16-14=30) and in power-play scoring (7-5=12).

LW Louis Nanne - Sioux Falls (USHL): Minnesota’s seventh-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft netted goal in three games last week.

D Gustav Olofsson - Colorado College (NCHC): The Wild’s second-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft tallied an assist and six PIM in Colorado College three games last weekend. The Tigers end their season after going 1-2-0 against University of North Dakota in the quarterfinal round of the NCHC championship. Named to the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team (3/11).

C Avery Peterson - Grand Rapids (High School): Minnesota's sixth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft has earned 10 points (3-7=10) in eight games with Sioux City since end of high school season. Named 2014 Minnesota Minute Men Mr. Hockey Award Winner (3/9). Led the Griffins in goals (37), assists (30) and scoring (67) in 27 games this season.

D Nick Seeler - Nebraska Omaha (NCHC): The Wild’s fifth-round selection in 2011 NHL Entry Draft recorded four PIM as Nebraska Omaha went 1-2-0 in the quarterfinal round of the NCHC tournament against Denver. The Mavericks end their season 17-18-2. Named to the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team (3/11). One of four players on the team to net a short handed goal this season and ranked second in PIM (61).

D Carson Soucy - Minnesota Duluth (NCHC): Minnesota’s fifth-round selection in 2013 NHL Entry Draft and Minnesota Duluth ends their season after losing both quarterfinal games against Western Michigan last weekend. The Bulldogs went 16-16-4 overall. Ranked second in PIM (60) and fourth amongst defensemen in scoring (0-6=6).

EUROPE

C Christoph Bertschy - SC Bern (Swiss): The Wild’s sixth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft did not play in SC Bern’s three games last week.

D Daniel Gunnarsson - Lulea HF (Sweden): Minnesota’s fifth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft and Lulea is 0-2 after two games in the quarterfinal round of the Swedish Hockey League playoffs. Ranks second amongst defensemen and ranks T-6th on the team in assists (11) and T-9th in scoring (3-11=14).

GOALTENDERS

Alexandre Belanger - Rouyn-Noranda (QMJHL): The Wild’s seventh-round selection in this summer’s 2013 NHL Entry Draft went 1-1-0 in two starts last week. Ranks T-7th in QMJHL in wins (28) and 13th in GAA (3.23).

Steve Michalek - Harvard (ECAC): Minnesota’s sixth-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and Harvard lost both its matchups over the weekend at Yale in the first round of the ECAC Championship tournament. The Crimson end their season 10-17-4 overall. Earned two shutouts in three starts as Harvard beat Dartmouth, 3-0 (2/7) and Clarkson, 1-0 (2/14).
