Wild Recalls Blum, Veilleux

The Minnesota Wild has recalled defenseman Jonathon Blum and forward Stephane Veilleux from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Blum has skated in four games with Minnesota this season and collected 29 points (7-22=29), including six power-play goals in 54 games with Iowa. The 6-foot-1, 188-pound native of Long Beach, Calif., has recorded 22 points (7-15=22) and 20 penalty minutes (PIM) in 95 career NHL games with Nashville and Minnesota. He was originally selected by the Predators in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. The 25-year-old was signed as a free agent by Minnesota on July 12, 2013, and wears jersey No. 7 with the wild.

Veilleux has tallied two goals and 19 penalty PIM in 27 games with Minnesota this season and 14 points (5-9=14) and 33 PIM in 34 games with Iowa. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound native of St. Georges de Beauce, Que., owns 103 points (48-55=103) and 336 PIM in 487 career games during nine NHL seasons with Minnesota, Tampa Bay and New Jersey. The 32-year-old ranks fifth in franchise history in hits (426), eighth in games played (408), 10th in PIM (288) and 11th in shots (581). Veilleux was originally selected by Minnesota in the third round (93rd overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft and wears jersey No. 19.

Defenseman Keith Ballard did not make the trip due to a lower-body injury. Clayton Stoner also remained behind due to an undisclosed injury, at this time, of his own.
