Wild Prospects Report - March 26
An updated look at the Wild\'s prospects and how they\'re developing

Iowa Wild 2013-14 Record: 25-29-6-4, 60 points, Fifth Place in Midwest Division

The Iowa Wild, Minnesota Wild’s American Hockey League affiliate, fell in four games last week. The Wild suffered a 4-2 loss against the Texas Stars on Wednesday. Forward Tyler Graovac and LW Brad Winchester scored Iowa’s two goals while LW Brett Bulmer and C Zack Phillips each tallied an assist. G Johan Gustafsson stopped 32-of-36 shots in the loss. The Grand Rapids Griffins defeated Iowa 4-1 on Friday. LW Kris Foucault netted the Wild’s lone goal with assists from LW Stephane Veilleux and D Jonathon Blum while Gustafsson made 25 saves. The Wild lost its second match against the Griffins on Saturday, 3-2. Foucault led the team with two points (1-1=2) and C Carson McMillan also scored. G John Curry stopped 28-of-31 shots in the defeat. Iowa lost it final matchup of the week, 2-1 against the Charlotte Checkers Tuesday night. Foucault scored his third goal of the week to put the Wild on the board. Bulmer and Phillips tallied the assists while Gustafsson made 27 saves. Winchester leads the Wild with 33 points (18-15=33) this season. Phillips ranks second with 30 points (11-19=30) and Blum ranks third with 29 points (7-22=29) on the season. Gustafsson is 11-16-2 with a 2.95 GAA, a .907 SV% and one shutout in 32 games while Curry is 7-8-2 with a 2.35 GAA, .927 SV% and one shutout in 18 games. The Wild concludes its six-game homestand hosting the Charlotte Checkers tonight before beginning a five-game road trip visiting Toronto on Saturday and Utica on Sunday.

CANADIAN HOCKEY LEAGUES

C Brady Brassart - Calgary (WHL): Ranks T-5th in WHL in playoff scoring (2-3=5) in four games. Ranked T-15th in WHL in scoring (35-50=85) and T-19th in goals (35) during regular season. Ranked first in power-play goals (11), T-1st on Calgary in points (85) and in assists (50), T-2nd in goals (35) and third in PIM (94).

D Matt Dumba - Portland (WHL):
The Wild’s first-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft tallied two assists in two playoff games as Portland leads the quarterfinal series 2-1 over Vancouver.

RW Kurtis Gabriel - Owen Sound (OHL): The Wild’s third-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft recorded assist in three playoff contests as Owen Sound trails 2-1 in the first round. Ranked first on the team in assists (35), tied for first in PIM (99) and tied for second in scoring (16-35=51) during the regular season.

D Dylan Labbe - Shawinigan (QMJHL): Minnesota’s fourth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft recorded two PIM in three playoff matches last week as Shawinigan trails 3-0 against Baie-Comeau. Led all defensemen and ranked third on the team in assists (18) and T-3rd in scoring (9-18=27) during the regular season.

RW Zack Mitchell - Guelph (OHL): Ranks T-1st on Guelph in playoff scoring with three assists in three games as the Storm lead 2-1 over Plymouth. Finished T-3rd in OHL in plus-minus (plus-52), T-9th in game-winning goals (7), T-14th in assists (52) and T-19th in scoring (31-42=83) during the regular season. Ranked T-2nd on Guelph in assists, plus-minus and fifth in goals (31).

COLLEGE/USHL

D Nolan De Jong - Michigan (Big Ten): The Wild’s seventh-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and Michigan suffered a 2-1 double overtime loss against Penn State in the Big Ten Quarterfinal round (3/20) to end their season.

D John Draeger - Michigan State (Big Ten): The Wild’s third-round selection in the 2012 Entry Draft tand Michigan State ended its season with a 2-1 overtime loss versus Ohio State in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament (3/20).

C Adam Gilmour - Boston College (Hockey East): The Wild’s fourth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft ranks T-4th on team in PPG (4) and in GWG (3). The Eagles will play Denver in the NCAA Northeast Regional Semifinal round March 29. Boston College is 18-3-2 in its last 23 games.

LW Mario Lucia - Notre Dame (Hockey East): The Wild’s second-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft recorded three shots as Notre Dame fell 4-0 to UMass Lowell (3/21) in the Hockey East Semifinals. The Irish will face St. Cloud State in the NCAA West Regional Semifinal at Xcel Energy Center (3/29). Ranks second in power-play scoring (7-5=12) and fourth on the Irish in points (16-14=30).

LW Louis Nanne - Sioux Falls (USHL): Minnesota’s seventh-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft recorded seven shots in two games last week.

D Gustav Olofsson - Colorado College (NCHC): The Wild’s second-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft signed three-year entry level contract with Minnesota beginning in the 2014-15 season (3/24).

C Avery Peterson - Grand Rapids (High School): Minnesota's sixth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft has earned 10 points (3-7=10) in 11 games with Sioux City since end of the high school season.

D Nick Seeler - Nebraska Omaha (NCHC): The Wild’s fifth-round selection in 2011 NHL Entry Draft recorded four PIM as Nebraska Omaha went 1-2-0 in the quarterfinal round of the NCHC tournament against Denver. The Mavericks end their season 17-18-2. Named to the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team (3/11). One of four players on the team to net a short handed goal this season and ranked second in PIM (61).

D Carson Soucy - Minnesota Duluth (NCHC): Minnesota’s fifth-round selection in 2013 NHL Entry Draft and Minnesota Duluth ends their season after losing both quarterfinal games against Western Michigan last weekend. The Bulldogs went 16-16-4 overall. Ranked second in PIM (60) and fourth amongst defensemen in scoring (0-6=6).

EUROPE

C Christoph Bertschy - SC Bern (Swiss): The Wild’s sixth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft tallied two assists in six playoff games.

D Daniel Gunnarsson - Lulea HF (Sweden): Minnesota’s fifth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft ranks third on the team in playoff scoring with three points (1-2=3). Lulea trails 3-2 after five games in the quarterfinal round of the Swedish Hockey League playoffs.

GOALTENDERS

Alexandre Belanger - Rouyn-Noranda (QMJHL): The Wild’s seventh-round selection in this summer’s 2013 NHL Entry Draft ranks T-2nd in playoff wins in QMJHL after posting a 2-1-0 record with a 4.48 GAA and a .817 SV% in three games last week. Rouyn-Noranda leads 2-1 over Quebec. Ranked T-7th in QMJHL in wins (28) and 13th in GAA (3.23).

Steve Michalek - Harvard (ECAC): Minnesota’s sixth-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and Harvard lost both its matchups over the weekend at Yale in the first round of the ECAC Championship tournament. The Crimson end their season 10-17-4 overall. Earned two shutouts in three starts as Harvard beat Dartmouth, 3-0 (2/7) and Clarkson, 1-0 (2/14).
