Wild's Best Of The Web - April 23
It’s not always easy staying tuned in to all things Wild online. Whether it’s a story or a funny Tweet, we’ve got you covered with the best links from around the web.
Both the Pioneer Press and Star Tribune look at the hockey player Granlund has transformed into this season. Wild.com Managing Editor Mike Doyle broke down Granny’s goal yesterday, while @MNWild put its own stamp on matters.
THIS IS HOW WE DO IT
This isn’t the first time WildTV has given you an inside look at the postgame locker room and we hope it won’t be the last.
After the overtime win Monday night, the locker room was just as vibrant as ever. And it had an on-ice celebration to match, which @MNWild was able to capture from the press box. Here’s to many more like it in the near future.
A PHOTO IS WORTH 1,000 WORDS
Sometimes a photo simply speaks volumes. Our local photogs were at it again Monday night, capturing the game’s key moments and overwhelming emotions.
SUTER FOR NORRIS
This season we haven’t heard quite the buzz around Ryan Suter and the Norris Trophy, particularly compared to last year.
Suter has been a workhorse all season. This is no secret in the State or Hockey. He led the NHL in TOI per game for the second straight season with a total of 29:25 — the highest by a play since 2001-01. He also skated at least 30 minutes in 37 of the Wild’s regular season contests.
This week Elliotte Friedman from CBC Sports shared his 30 Thoughts, initially centered on some of the trophy races. From a tight list of defensemen, Friedman picked our guy Suter for the win — a choice with which I’m sure we can all easily get on board.
WHEN THE CAMERA STOPS ROLLING
If you’ve ever been up in the Al Shaver Press Box on a game night, at some point throughout the evening you might have heard strange jungle-like noises emanating from the Fox Sports North booth.
This week, we finally have an answer to what those noises are and the cause of them. Anthony Lapanta and Mike Greenlay certainly know how to celebrate a good broadcast.
