Milestone Moments: Parise Passes His Papa

As we reflect back on the Wild’s 2013-14 season, we’ll take a look at some of the biggest individual milestones members of the Wild achieved. This week, we look back at a pair of special moments in the Parise family.

On March 29, Zach Parise netted two goals in a 3-1 win against the Phoenix Coyotes — a victory that was a turning point in the Wild’s push for the playoffs. But his pair of goals were special all on their own as he tied and then surpassed his dad, J.P., on the all-time goal list with 239 tallies. J.P. was actually on the trip and saw the goals first hand. He later joked that it took him 12 years to do what Zach did in seven.

A few games later, Parise picked up his 500th career point with a pair of assists against Pittsburgh on April 5. As a result, he and his dad became the third father-son duo to tally 500 NHL points, joining Gordie and Mark Howe and Bobby and Brett Hull.
