Milestone Moments: Matching Sute And Hat
On Jan. 4 Ryan Suter netted his first career hat trick with a pair of power-play goals and a two-on-one tally

As we reflect back on the Wild’s 2013-14 season, we’ll take a look at some of the biggest individual milestones members of the Wild achieved. This week, we look at a first-career hat trick.

There are quite a few milestones Ryan Suter hit in the 2013-14 season, but none were as sweet as tallying his first career hat trick Jan. 4 against the Washington Capitals. The blueliner netted two power-play goals (first goal, second goal), 42 seconds apart, and completed the feat on a two-on-one breakaway with, who else, fellow defenseman Clayton Stoner. The effort earned him the NHL’s Third Star of the Week honors.

Suter was a workhorse once again this season. He was one of three Wild players to play in all 82 games this year and didn’t go easy on the minutes. In fact, in a three-game span from Nov. 7-13 he totaled 108:19 TOI (a 36:06 average), which is the most recorded by a player since the statistic was tracked in 2000-01. He also tallied his 300th career point with an assist on the game-winning goal on Jan. 12 against his former team, the Nashville Predators. He also skated in his 600th career game against the Preds on Oct. 22.
