Milestone Moments: Four Rookies Make NHL Debuts
One of the key components of the Wild's 2013-14 roster was its youth. With a bevy of young players skating in their sophomore seasons or taking on greater responsibilities, four rookies made their NHL debuts with the Wild.
On Opening Night, Oct. 3 against Los Angeles, former University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldog Justin Fontaine was the first Wild rookie to debut last season. Defenseman Matt Dumba quickly followed him, playing in his first NHL game in the second tilt of the season, Oct. 5 against Anaheim.
State of Hockey favorite and former Golden Gopher Erik Haula made his NHL debut on Nov. 29 against Colorado in which he picked up his first career point with an assist. He wasn't the only rookie to tally a point in his debut. Blueliner Christian Folin tallied an assist and registered a plus-3 rating in his first NHL game on April 10 against St. Louis.
