The Minnesota Wild invites K–6 classrooms to participate in the 2009-2010 Wild about Reading program! Classrooms can receive a Wild about Reading Poster to encourage kids to read in and outside of school. Classrooms are also encouraged to participate in the Wild about Reading Cheer Contest to win great Wild Prizes.
WILD ABOUT READING POSTER - Each K-6 classroom teacher that registers on-line by 11/09/09 will receive a Wild About Reading poster for their classroom. You will receive your poster by December 4th, 2009.
WILD ABOUT READING CHEER CONTEST- Each K-6 classroom that submits a written Wild About Reading Cheer between 11/16/09 and 12/11/09 will be eligible to participate in the “Wild About Reading Cheer Contest” and compete for:
Hat Trick Prize (2 total prizes)An opportunity to watch a Wild practice and have a Wild player read to their group at Xcel Energy Center (winning group must provide own transportation for each student) OR a Wild school supply donation for each student in the winning group.
Goal Line Prize (10 total prizes)A Wild player’s significant other or Wild staff member will travel to your school and read in the classroom.
The Wild About Reading Program was launched in 2004 to help increase student literacy by providing incentives to read outside the classroom. Since its inception, more than 30,516 students from 639 schools throughout the state of Minnesota have participated in the Wild About Reading program.
