Last season, fans voted Jason Pominville the Bryant "Who's Hot?" Player of the Year, knocking off the previous season's winner Niklas Backstrom. Pominville was a consistent presence in his first full season with the Wild. The wing led the team in goals (30) and points (60), and was one of three players to skate in all 82 games.
This year, we reset the voting for the "Who's Hot?" award.
This week, well actually it’s two weeks, we have three players going for the top honor to start the year. Up first, goaltender Darcy Kuemper set a Wild shutout record to start the season. The netminder won his first two starts, shutting out Colorado, and was named the NHL’s Second Star. In three games, Kuemper posted a 0.67 goals against average and .972 save percentage. Up next is Zach Parise, who leads the team in scoring after four contests. The forward has two goals, two assists, a plus-5 rating and a team high 27 shots (twice as many as any other member of Minnesota). Finally, defenseman Ryan Suter earns a nomination for scoring a goal, adding two assists and gaining a plus-3 rating.
