Last season, fans voted Niklas Backstrom the Bryant "Who's Hot?" Player of the Year, knocking off the previous season's winner Dany Heatley. Backstrom was a workhorse for the Wild, playing in 42 games. His 24 wins on the season ranked T-first in the National Hockey League. Overall, he posted a 2.48 goals against average and a .909 save percentage.
Taking the Bryant Hot Player lead with his third weekly honor on the season is Josh Harding. The netminder posted a 1.93 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage.
This week, Harding will get a chance to extend his Hot Player lead against a forward familiar with the standings and a newcomer to the competition. Harding was his usual outstanding self last week, going undefeated in three starts (3-0-0) and posting a 1.33 goals-against average and .949 save percentage. Zach Parise looks for his second weekly nod, scoring three goals on 13 shots on net. Finally, making earning his first ever Bryant Hot Player nomination is defenseman Marco Scandella. The blueliner scored the game winner against Chicago and added three assists, including a two-assist effort against San Jose.
