After three days of drills, scrimmaging and video meetings with new Head Coach Mike Yeo, the Minnesota Wild finally gets the chance to start facing some bad guys. The Wild will open the preseason schedule with a road show against the split-squad Edmonton Oilers.
After an impressive showing in the weekend scrimmages, the Cullen line will have the chance to further gain some chemistry. But the storyline tonight will actually be among the Wild defensemen. Tryout defenseman Jordan Hendry has obviously impressed enough in a short time to earn an extensive look, and he'll get that tonight on the top defensive pairing with Tyler Cuma. The third pairing features Justin Falk and Nate Prosser, both of whom are battling to earn one of the final roster spots.
Tonight's Oilers Roster
There will be several Wild/Minnesota connections in the lineup tonight. Former Wild players Eric Belanger and Cam Barker will be out there, as will former Wild draft pick, Ryan Jones. Tyler Pitlick, who starred at Centennial High School and Minnesota State, Mankato will center the third line.
Taylor Hall - Eric Belanger - Ryan Jones
Magnus Paajarvi - Anton Lander - Linus Omark
Ben Eager - Tyler Pitlick - Ryan Keller
Ryan Martindale - Tanner House - Phillippe Cornet
Cam Barker - Tom Gilbert
Martin Marincin - Kirill Tulupov
David Musil - Taylor Fedun
Nikolai Khabibulin will get the start with Olivier Roy as the backup
The Wild will return home tonight and then set it's lineup for another road contest in St. Louis on Thursday. That will start a stretch of three games in three days.
