GAMEDAY: Wild vs. Oilers
Edmonton Oilers vs. Minnesota Wild
Minnesota Wild (25-18-3: 53 points, 8th in Western Conference, 2nd in Northwest Division) vs. Edmonton Oilers (17-22-7 41 points, 13th in Western Conference, 4th in Northwest Division)
Win tonight and the Minnesota Wild are in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2008, simple as that.

However, standing in the way of Minnesota’s bid for the postseason are the Edmonton Oilers. It will be the final meeting as Northwest Division rivals between the Wild and Oilers. A win tonight will also mean a season series sweep for the Wild. Minnesota took the first game winning 3-1 at Rexall Place on Feb. 21, 4-2 at Xcel Energy Center March 3 and 5-3 at Rexall Place April 16.

Jason Pominville will be out of the lineup tonight after suffering an upper-body injury from an elbow delivered by Dustin Brown of the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday. Pominville didn’t participate in the team’s morning skate. While there was no penalty called on the play, Brown was suspended by the NHL for two games for the hit.

Forward Mike Rupp is expected to be back in the Wild lineup tonight after missing five games with a lower-body injury. He'll skate on the wing with Zenon Konopka and Jake Dowell.

Today, the Wild recalled forward Carson McMillan from the Houston Aeros. McMillan has registered five points (2-3=5), a plus-2 rating and 11 PIM in 15 career contests with Minnesota.

Minnesota earned a thrilling victory over the Kings, 2-1, on Tuesday. Charlie Coyle and Cal Clutterbuck scored 16 seconds apart to give the Wild a 2-0 first period lead and was enough to take out the Kings. Niklas Backstrom was outstanding, especially down the stretch, making 22 saves for the win.

On Wednesday, the Oilers were topped by the Chicago Blackhawks, 4-1. Rookie Nail Yakupov scored Edmonton’s lone goal. Devan Dubnyk made 26 saves suffering the loss.
Meet The Blues If You're Going
The Oilers have scored just two goals during its current three-game losing streak. However, Edmonton would love to do nothing more than to play the role of spoilers for one last time in the Northwest, as the club will miss the playoffs for the seventh-straight season following its run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2006.
Be in your seats by the10:00 timeout in the second period and the Wild will take a fan-o-ramic photo that you can tag yourself in and download at 7 p.m. Saturday. Go to at 7 p.m. Saturday for full details.

Who's Hot Gameday Media
Charlie Coyle scored the opening goal Tuesday, has a two-game point streak (1-1=2) and three points (2-1=3) in his last four games. The 21-year-old rookie has 12 points (8-4=12) in 35 games this season, including six points (5-1=6) in his last 13 games.

Fans can guess who's going to be hot with the Wild's HotBox Fantasy Challenge presented by the Pioneer Press for a chance to win great prizes.

What has impressed me the last couple of days with this group is that we’ve acted like we’ve been here before. It’s important that you’re intense and you’re ready to play the game, but there has to be a certain degree of looseness and confidence to the way you play the game.

- Yeo on the way the team is handling itself
Brett Clark and Nate Prosser will be the healthy scratches on the blue line.

McMillan was recalled for tonight's game, but will not be in if Rupp is good to go. Dany Heatley is out for the rest of the season following arthriscopic shoulder surgery.
Honorary State of Hockey Resident Worthless Stat
D Nick Schultz spent parts of 10 seasons with the Wild (2001-12). He is the franchise leader in games played (743) and ranks 10th all time in points and seventh in assists (26-102=128). LW Ryan Jones was drafted by the Wild in the fourth round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. C Eric Belanger collected 108 points (39- 69=108) in 214 games with the Wild (2007- 10). D Andy Sutton spent parts of two seasons (2000-02) with the Wild. Far from a worthless stat, Minnesota has recorded 19 straight sellouts, 21 this season. The team’s average attendance this season is currently 18,782 – the highest total in franchise history, surpassing the previous record of 18,575 fans-per-game in 2005-06.
