GAMEDAY: Wild at Nashville
Minnesota Wild vs. Nashville Predators
WildPlayer
Minnesota Wild (0-0-2: 2 points, T-9th in Western Conference, 5th in Central Division) at Nashville Predators (0-2-0: 0 points, T-13th in Western Conference, 7th in Pacific Division)
Minnesota starts the road portion of its 2013-14 season tonight at Bridgestone Arena, taking on Nashville in the Predators' home opener. It will be a different forward lineup for the first time this season, as Charlie Coyle suffered a sprained knee Saturday and has been placed on Injured Reserve.

Coyle will be replaced in the lineup by Jason Zucker, who scored four goals in 20 regular season games last season, plus an overtime goal against Chicago in the playoffs. Zucker is expected to play alongside Dany Heatley and Mikael Granlund, who moves to center after playing the first two games of the season on the third line wing.

Mikko Koivu, who became the Wild's all-time leading power-play point getter Saturday, enters tonight's game one point away from 400 in his Wild and NHL career.

Zach Parise wasn't feeling well and left practice early yesterday, but skated this morning and is expected to play against the Preds. The Wild has recalled Carson McMillan from the Iowa Wild as a precaution in the odd chance Parise can't go.

Almost lost in the season-opening hooplah was Ryan Suter's return (again) to Nashville, where he was booed mercilessly last season. We don't expect a quieter crowd tonight.

The Wild lost 4-3 in OT to Anaheim on Saturday, as the Ducks scored with 4.9 seconds left in the extra session. Zach Parise had two goals, while Mikko Koivu became the franchise's all-time leader in power play points.

Nashville lost back-to-back road games to start the season, the last a 3-1 decision at Colorado on Friday. Paul Gaustad scored Nashville's lone goal.
Meet The Ducks If You're Going
A few members of Nashville don't need much introduction. Matt Cullen spent three seasons with the Wild, while Eric Nystrom also skated for Minnesota. Nashville's first-round pick from the summer, Seth Jones, is on the roster. Jones was Ryan Suter's roommate at the U.S. Olympic Orientation Camp. It's the Predators home opener, and their coaches and players will be arriving on the gold carpet beginning at 4 p.m. Once inside, check out new food items for this season including Nashville poutine, chicken fried steak on a stick and Smores waffle.

The Wild will wear its WHITE sweaters tonight.
Who's Hot Gameday Media
Zach Parise recorded his 30th career multiple goal game Saturday against Anaheim. It marked his fifth as a member of the Wild. Parise is also tied for a team-best plus-one this season, while his 14 shots are eight more than any other player on the Wild.

Fans can guess who's going to be hot with the Wild's HotBox Fantasy Challenge presented by the Pioneer Press for a chance to win great prizes.

Mitchell – Konopka – Fontaine

Stoner is the only change from last game:

Suter – Brodin

Not too many things get to that guy. It's a cliche, but he's got ice in his veins.

- Yeo on Suter getting booed in Nashville last season
The Wild will sit defensemen Mathew Dumba and Nate Prosser. If Parise is in the lineup, McMillan also will be scratched.

Mike Rupp is out with a lower-body injury. Charlie Coyle is out with a knee sprain.
Honorary State of Hockey Resident Worthless Stat
Center Matt Cullen is a Virginia native and skated with the Wild the last three seasons collecting 101 points (33-68=101) in 193 games. Another Predators Center, Matt Hendricks, hails from Blain and is a former St. Cloud State Husky. Left winger Eric Nystrom spent the 2010-11 season with Minnesota, appearing in 82 games. He made the jump from high school to the NHL as a player, so no surprise that Hall-of-Famer Phil Housley left Stillwater High School as a coach to be an assistant with the Predators. Six of the last seven meetings between the Wild and Preds have been decided by one goal; the last three at Bridgestone Arena have all gone to a shootout.
Broadcast Info In Case You Missed It
Wild at Preds will be broadcast locally in high definition on FOX Sports North with a start time at 7:00 p.m. The game can be heard on KFAN 100.3 FM or online at Wild.com.
