EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) -- With the clock practically at zero, Brad Isbister knew he only had one shot to tie the game.

Even with that pressure, the Edmonton Oilers forward didn't rush.

Isbister scored with 1.9 seconds left in regulation to give the Oilers a 1-1 tie against the Minnesota Wild on Thursday night.

With the Edmonton goalie pulled for an extra skater and the Oilers scrambling in the Wild zone, Ryan Smyth spun around and slid a pass across the crease to Isbister, who beat Manny Fernandez with a high wrist shot.

"I saw him stumble coming across the crease, so I took an extra half-second to shoot it," Isbister said.

He even knew how much time he had left.

"Sort of," Isbister said. "I don't have a mental clock."

Fernandez, who made 30 saves, nearly earned his second shutout over Edmonton this season. It also would have been the Wild's first four-game winning streak.

"It was a mistake," Fernandez said. "I assumed he was going to shoot it right away. I went down on one knee and he kind of fumbled the puck. I got kind of surprised. Stuff like that happens."

Former Oilers player Sergei Zholtok scored late in the second period for the Wild, 4-1-2 in their last seven.

The Oilers have won twice in seven games (2-2-3) after a six-game winless streak.

"If he gets the opportunity -- like he did -- he can put it in the back of the net," Oilers coach Craig MacTavish said of Isbister. "We don't have a lot of guys who can make that shot. He put himself in a good position and Ryan made a great pass."

The first two meetings between the Oilers and Wild this season were shutouts won by the visiting teams. This one would've had a similar ending if not for Isbister's heroics.

"It was the end of the shift," Wild coach Jacques Lemaire said. "We started to be a little tired and couldn't pressure the puck carrier. We had a chance to get the puck out. We didn't. Then we had it again and we lost it. You can't give them too many chances."

Ty Conklin, who stopped 19 shots, blanked the Wild 2-0 in Minnesota on Nov. 13. Fernandez won 1-0 in Edmonton on Dec. 3.

Zholtok scored on a power play at 18:26 of the second. His point shot deflected off the stick of an Edmonton player and past Conklin for his fourth goal.

Zholtok has a four-game scoring streak (two goals, three assists).

Alexandre Daigle earned an assist on the goal, his fourth point (one goal, three assists) in three games. Jason Wiemer also picked up an assist to extend his scoring streak to four games (two goals, two assists).

Edmonton has allowed a power-play goal in 14 straight games. The Oilers have allowed 20 goals in 56 chances during their penalty killing slump.

In the first period, Fernandez stopped Smyth's one-timer with seven minutes left. It was Edmonton's only decent scoring chance despite 12 shots.

Fernandez also stopped Mike York's short-handed breakaway late in the second and kicked out Smyth's backhand with nine minutes left in the third.
