CALGARY. Alberta (AP) -- Dwayne Roloson did everything he could to frustrate his former team. Stopping 44 shots went a long way toward lifting the Minnesota Wild into a tie with the Calgary Flames.

Richard Park scored on a penalty shot in the third period of the Wild's 2-2 draw Monday night.

The penalty shot was awarded when Calgary defenseman Jordan Leopold gloved a loose puck and threw it out of the crease during a goal-mouth scramble.

"It was just a reaction," Leopold said. "My idea was just to shoot it out of there and move it along.

"I didn't want it right there in the crease with all the guys in there but the official was right on top of it and made the call. I guess I can't do that again."

Park scored his seventh goal of the season at 2:45, beating goalie Miikka Kiprusoff with a backhand shot.

"He flinched for a split-second and that was my signal, a split-second is all you need," Park said. "There aren't many penalty shots in this game so, when you get one, it's fun."

Pascal Dupuis had the other goal for Minnesota, which is unbeaten in eight games (4-0-4).

"We came out, and our first 10 minutes were pretty solid but we let down a bit after that and let Minnesota get back in the game," Leopold said. "If we had kept the pedal down, maybe it would have been a better outcome for us."

Martin Gelinas and Dave Lowry scored for Calgary, which has lost in regulation just twice in 20 games (13-2-3-2).

Roloson was stellar in recording a season-high save total. Calgary outshot Minnesota 46-19.

In the fifth meeting this season between the Northwest Division rivals, who had split the first four games, Calgary carried the play most of the night. But the Flames couldn't solve Roloson.

"It's not really the shots coming but it's the guys that are coming to the net that you have to worry about," Roloson said. "You have to position the rebounds in proper spots or they're going to generate more goals. I just tried my best to keep the rebounds to the corners and not into the slot."

One of his best stops came with just over four minutes left in the third period when he stuck out his right pad to deny Chuck Kobasew from 10 feet out.

Roloson had no chance on either Calgary goal as they were scored on passes from behind the Minnesota goal line that banked in off Wild players.

Calgary opened the scoring at 11:17 of the second, thanks to Minnesota center Sergei Zholtok.

As Gelinas carried the puck behind the Minnesota net, he suddenly changed direction -- causing Wild defensemen Brad Bombardir and Andrei Zyuzin to collide. Gelinas then tried a centering pass that went in off Zholtok's backside.

Calgary took a 2-1 lead just over two minutes later.

This time, Lowry's centering pass for Kobasew banked in off Zyuzin as he slid to break up the two-on-one rush.

The Flames held a 13-5 shots advantage in the third period.

"We deserved to win -- it's simple as that," Flames coach Darryl Sutter said. "I give our guys full marks for staying focused."

Park says the Wild were lucky to escape with their unbeaten streak intact.

"It's a very fortunate point for us as we were badly outplayed for a majority of the game," he said.

Minnesota made it 2-1 on Dupuis' seventh goal at 16:46, converting a rebound of Zholtok's shot.
