CALGARY, Alberta (AP) - The Calgary Flames pushed aside the Minnesota Wild in the third period.

Steven Reinprecht and Jason Wiemer scored third-period goals and the Calgary Flames beat the Minnesota Wild 4-2 on Thursday night to move back into first place in the Northwest Division.

"We haven't played the 60 minutes like we wanted to lately, and tonight, we played good," Reinprecht said. "We battled from behind a couple of times and we came out hard in the third and that's what our identity is."

Reinprecht broke a 2-2 tie with 8:13 left, and Jason Wiemer put the game away with 3:34 to go with his first goal of the season.

"It was a pretty good game both sides," Wild coach Jacques Lemaire. "In the third they got a couple good plays and we made a mistake on that last goal."

Tony Amonte and Shean Donovan also scored to help the Flames take a one-point lead over Vancouver in the tight Northwest Division.

Richie Regehr, the younger brother of Flames defenseman Robyn Regehr, picked up an assist on the winning goal in his first NHL game.

"A great shot by Richie, hard and on the net. I just threw my stick out and it bounced off of it," Reinprecht said.

Richie Regehr was called up from Omaha of the AHL on Monday.

"I just put my head down and shot it towards the net," he said.

Miikka Kiprusoff made 32 saves for the Flames to improve to 19-10-4.

Kyle Wanvig and Pascal Dupuis scored for Minnesota, which entered the game with a three-game winning streak.

Calgary tied it at 2 with 42 seconds left in the second period when Donovan curled out from behind the net and squeezed a backhander behind Dwayne Roloson. The goal was Donovan's first in 35 games.

"It was a great feeling and to tie it up going into the third period, I was excited," said Donovan, who also had an assist.

The goal came 1:29 after Minnesota took the lead on Dupuis' breakaway goal.

"We had the momentum and everything was fitting into our plans, but then all of a sudden that bad bounce and it's a tied hockey game," Wanvig said.

Notes: Minnesota was coming victories Monday and Wednesday nights in Edmonton. ... In a statistical oddity, Minnesota has a better record when it's outshot (14-10-2) then when it outshoots the opposition (3-6-2).
