DETROIT (AP) -The Detroit Red Wings jumped out to a lead and Dominik Hasek took care of the rest - as he usually does against the Wild.

Hasek made 32 saves and remained unbeaten in his career against Minnesota, leading Detroit to a 3-1 victory Wednesday night.

Johan Franzen had a goal and an assist for the Red Wings in their third consecutive game against Minnesota. Detroit won the first game and lost the second in overtime.

Kirk Maltby and Henrik Zetterberg also scored for the Red Wings, who led 3-0 less than seven minutes into the second period.

"I think we played really well for 35 minutes," said Hasek, who improved to 7-0-2 against the Wild. "After the third goal, we got a little sloppy defensively."

Pavol Demitra got Minnesota's goal, and Niklas Backstrom stopped 30 shots.

The rookie goaltender praised Hasek, who stopped 24 of 25 shots in the last two periods.

"He's proven he's one of the best and he's shown that age is just a number," Backstrom said. "It's how your body feels and how you work it. It's a great role model for a young goalie, how you should work and how you should play."

Detroit took a 1-0 lead just 16 seconds into the game, when Maltby was credited with the goal after a rebound off Backstrom's pads deflected in off defenseman Keith Carney's skate.

"It was a big thing to do to try and come back from that start," Minnesota coach Jacques Lemaire said.

The Red Wings increased their lead to 3-0 in the second period on goals by Zetterberg and Franzen.

Zetterberg scored from the slot 4:03 into the period, as he converted a pass from Pavel Datsyuk, for his 14th goal. Franzen put in a one-timer from the bottom of the left circle at 6:47.

It was then Hasek's turn to shine as the Wild began to apply pressure.

"We got a little sloppy late," said Maltby. "We've been relying a little too much on our goaltending lately."

Demitra finally put Minnesota on the board with 2:46 left in the middle period, when he put the rebound of a rebound past Hasek for his ninth goal.

But the veteran goalie was perfect after that.

"Obviously, having good goaltending is everything," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said. "Dom is playing well."

Notes: Detroit D Danny Markov returned after missing nine games with a broken hand. ... Minnesota LW Stephane Veilleux missed his third game with a broken nose and D Petteri Nummelin missed his fourth game with an upper body injury. ... Red Wings RW Mikael Samuelsson missed his fifth game with a groin injury. ... Detroit C Robert Lang left the contest after the first period because of the flu.
